We currently have an opening for a Bridge Engineer to join our well-established and experienced Minnesota Bridge Group in Minneapolis, MN.
Primary Responsibilities
In the role of Bridge Engineer, we'll count on you to:
- Lead technical design for DOT and local agency highway bridges, along with bridge load ratings. Includes checking calculations and designs done by others.
- Lead technical design on projects that typically include steel plate girder, prestress concrete, and reinforced concrete designs. Additionally, lead technical designs for retaining walls or structures for highway projects.
- Perform complex structural planning, analysis and design for all structural aspects of transportation projects.
- Lead or assist in the development and the review of proposals, project scopes, schedules, and budgets.
- Mentor less-experienced staff. You will be viewed as a technical expert in engineering analysis and design with a proven background of technical leadership on these types of projects.
- Serve as a technical specialist or Project Manager on mid-size projects and supervise more junior engineers in the performance of engineering tasks.
- Growth potential to lead multi-disciplined transportation design teams as a Project Manager or Task Lead for local and workshare projects.
- Experience using OpenRoads Designer/Microstation/AutoCAD, Mathcad, LARSA 4D (or similar structural analysis software), and prestressed concrete and steel girder design software.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of the LRFD Bridge Design Code.
- Previous experience working with state and local agencies on federal aid projects.
- 2+ years of leading bridge design tasks or project management of highway projects.
- Experience with local owners (MnDOT or local municipalities
- Minnesota or Idaho PE licensure required or ability to obtain in within 6 months.
- Master's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
- Project Management/Deputy Project Management skills.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- A minimum of 10 years bridge design experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Proven hands-on experience in all aspects of bridge design projects
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software, GEOPAK, AutoCAD and MicroStation
- Experience using structural analysis programs and bridge design software
- Demonstrated leadership skills, communication skills and ability to work with various teams
- Project management skills desirable
- Strong communication skills and willing to work in a team environment
- Must be comfortable being viewed as a technical expert in engineering analysis and design and have proven background of technical leadership on these types of projects
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
