Acting as an integral member of the Tax team, this candidate will work directly with key stakeholders (Owner Doctors and Executives) as a trusted advisor providing tax consulting and advisory services. They will also be responsible for the timely delivery of compliance services which include projections, estimates, scenario modeling, and the timely filing of tax returns. They will participate in the professional development of staff, assist in running the individual tax team while developing strong relationships with departmental leaders within the company.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for review of individual tax returns, estimated tax filings, extensions calculations and related filings, including various state tax return filings.
  • Provide consulting and advisory services to owner doctors and executives throughout the year. In addition to compliance, this job relies heavily on the time spent communicating and working directly with the owner doctors and executives.
  • Conduct tax research and work on complex projects.
  • Display excellent communication skills, both written and oral, to build relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Exhibit a comprehensive knowledge of the tax issues facing individuals, while also having a strong working knowledge of C-corps, S-corps, and Partnerships.
  • Strong time management skills and an ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in accordance with strict deadlines.
  • Perform special tax projects as they arise, oversee work performed by outside tax service providers.
  • Maintain proficiency with respect to current tax laws, tax law changes, CCH Axcess, Lexis, BNA, or other similar software, tax research tools, and tax planning software.
  • Demonstrate the ability to effectively manage workflow and teams within deadlines, adhering and participating in all standard structured meetings.
  • Perform people (HR) related functions, such as recruitment, assessing and selecting, performance reviews, disciplinary actions (with support of employee relations), compensation administration, transferring and promotion of team members. Possess the ability to coach and mentor staff, including providing timely and meaningful feedback.
  • Provide leadership and oversight for all individual tax matters, developing the team to meet key stakeholders' needs.
  • Meet with key stakeholders in group settings and one-on-one to discuss tax planning and tax return reporting matters. Display excellent communication skills needed to build relationships with owner doctors, executives, and key internal employees.
  • Experience working with and responding to federal, state, and local tax inquiries and audit requests.
  • Drive process improvements; enable streamlining to achieve operational efficiencies, benchmarking, and development of performance metrics.
  • Demonstrate stewardship of the PDS Brand, making decisions consistent with the PDS Brand framework.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, as well as state, federal, and other regulatory bodies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Tax or Accounting with 8+ years of individual tax compliance and consulting experience.
  • CPA, JD, or EA license.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Experience managing a team of tax professionals.

Preferred

  • Master’s degree in Taxation.
  • JD-LLM in Taxation.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Interpersonal skills necessary to be a trusted advisor and provide consistent consulting services to owner doctors and executives.
  • Strong broad-based tax technical skills.
  • Flexibility in adapting processes to meet unique needs.
  • Ability to function effectively in Excel, Word, CCH, Lexis, etc.
  • Demonstrates a strong ability to identify, analyze, and solve problems.
  • Fostering employee development by providing a supportive learning environment.
  • Ability to direct the work of others and work as a team leader in attainment of goals.
  • Ability to handle and maintain extreme confidentiality with employee records including compensation and other PII.

Salary: $107,088.00 - $180,169.00 / Annually
