Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement strategies to drive innovation, efficiency, and excellence in software development processes and practices.
  2. Foster a culture of collaboration, creativity, and continuous improvement within the software engineering team.
  3. Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing team of software engineers, managers, and technical leads.
  4. Oversee the design, development, and delivery of high-quality software solutions that meet business requirements and customer needs.
  5. Collaborate closely with product management, quality assurance, DevOps, and other cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and delivery of software products and features.
  6. Implement metrics and performance indicators to measure and track the effectiveness of software engineering initiatives and drive data-driven decision-making.
  7. Identify and mitigate risks related to software development projects, including technical, operational, and compliance risks.
  8. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and security requirements in software development activities, including data privacy and cybersecurity regulations.
  9. Contribute to the development of the company's overall strategic plans and annual budgets, providing insights and recommendations related to software engineering initiatives and resource allocation.
  10. Act as a spokesperson for the software engineering department, advocating for its needs, successes, and contributions across the organization and beyond.
  11. Develop cutting-edge AI/ML Platform solutions using public cloud hybrid architecture and modern standards and patterns.
  12. Integrate with AWS Cloud Services for compute, storage, databases, and security.
  13. Develop solutions or tools to monitor, provision components for automation of the processes, services, and reports.
  14. Leverage strong operational skills to develop impactful recommendations on upstream product, process, or policy improvements that will optimize the user experience.
  15. Execute on CI/CD of micro-service API services (communications, data storage and analytics, and identity/preference management).
  16. Work closely with Business and Partner governance to ensure technology stack can deliver the API product road maps.
  17. Architecting for a cloud-based environment, database architecture and modern relational database products.
  18. Ensure technological processes and service for DevOps align with all security requirements, laws, and regulations.
  19. Study current and new industry trends, technologies, and cloud software development.
  20. Partner across the organization to create, drive, and deliver innovative, user-friendly products for our developers across all platforms.
  21. Develop a community with cross-functional partner teams like Product Management, Site Reliability Engineering, and User Experience.
  22. May assume other duties as applied.

Qualifications:

Required Skills:

  1. Experience with IT strategic planning.
  2. Experience managing budgets of $5M - $20M.
  3. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  4. Willingness to work flexible schedules.
  5. Proven skills in budgeting, negotiation, planning, and working with third-parties.
  6. Demonstrated ability to relate to all levels of the user community and executive management, be a team player, set and manage priorities, translate complex technical issues into common language, sell solutions and gain alignment, link and apply technologies to business strategies, and lead projects to success without having direct control of all the resources.
  7. Experience with server-side development in Python.
  8. Experience developing software on Amazon Web Services.
  9. Experience working in a Git based CI/CD SDLC environment.
  10. Experience working in agile teams.
  11. Experience driving a team while focusing on continuous improvement initiatives and setting priorities and plans to meet business goals and objectives.
  12. Experience with deploying AWS services and building cloud-based platforms; AWS IoT, EC2, S3, Lambda, Kinesis, Redshift, and related AWS services.
  13. Experience acting as a Champion of a growing organization, building out new development teams to execute new solution offerings from ground up.
  14. Experience migrating to a microservices-based API model.

Preferred Skills:

  1. Strong experience in Google Cloud and AWS environments.
  2. iOS and Android Application development experience.
  3. Experience managing remote teams and collaborating with teams across distributed geographies.
