Description
Position Purpose/Summary:
As a resettlement agency, we seek to address the most fundamental needs of all new refugees
such as access to housing, food, clothing, income, medical care, education, and employment.
The Housing Coordinator/Case Aide will be pivotal in the lives of newly arriving refugees. Each
day will involve something different as you work to help refugee families get connected to their
new community. He/she will assist in locating appropriate housing and conduct outreach to
landlords and secure agreements.
Essential Functions: (Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with
disabilities to perform the essential functions.)
1. Welcome new arrivals of cases assigned at the local Airport.
2. Prepare for the arrival of new refugees by working to secure housing, complete the
move-in of required furniture items.
3. Be available for the occasional evening refugee arrivals and weekend home visits.
4. Make referral and transport clients to various service providers
5. Providing hands-on case management with much of the work being conducted at client's
home or in the community.
6. Regular home visits and completion of extensive documentation in the form of case notes
and required forms.
7. Assist in locating appropriate rental properties and developing agreements with landlords
Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent or Bachelor's degree in social work, sociology, or
relevant degree; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience: Previous work experience and interest in refugee resettlement or other direct social
services desired.
Specific skills/abilities: Competent with computers; familiar with Microsoft Office. Strong sense
of teamwork required. Comfortable working with a multi-cultural team. Can work independently
and with minimal supervision. Must demonstrate maturity, flexibility, creativity, initiative,
organizational skills, the ability to work effectively with others, and the ability to think
systemically. Must transport clients in personal vehicle. Must have reliable transportation.
Specialized knowledge, licenses, etc: Have a valid driver's license with vehicle insurance.
