Our services are low-cost, medically accurate, and developmentally appropriate. The Annex Teen Clinic has been providing services in Northwest Hennepin County and North Minneapolis since 1971.

Wages
$22 - $25 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.
Benefits

A Typical Day in the Life...
A typical day as the Annex's Community Outreach Specialist provides an opportunity to manage the planning and implementation of outreach HIV testing services for the Annex Teen Clinic. The Community Outreach Specialist will provide sexual health and risk reduction education focused on BIPOC youth, specifically men who have sex with men through age 26 in schools, clinic, and community settings.
Responsibilities will include the following:
HIV Testing & Results Oversight
- Testing community members for HIV using mouth swab testing at community partner sites for youth and adolescents.
- Overseeing the entire process of handling HIV labs, from collecting samples at testing clinics to notifying patients of results and completing the necessary reporting.
- Ensuring that all test results are being delivered to patients in a timely and accurate manner and connecting patients to referral partners.
- Coordinating the use of electronic results, scheduling, and follow-up care.
- Reporting positive HIV results to the Minnesota Department of Health, overseeing programmatic aspects, and reporting all testing to the Director of Clinical Services and Operations as required by grant restrictions.
Education and Programming
- Educating youth and adolescents on risk factors and safer sex practices.
- Developing and implementing public health outreach programs at the Annex, managing program budgets, and overseeing marketing and public awareness campaigns.
- Maintaining a calendar of outreach activities, including community events, workshops, appearances, and other communication opportunities.
- Nurturing both new and existing community partner relationships through collaborative partnerships.
Who You Are
- You possess a minimum of 1-3 years of experience in sexual healthcare administration, direct patient care, or an associate degree in a related field.
- You hold a current BLS/CPR certificate and have work experience as a Medical Assistant, Medical Technician, or equivalent lab training or experience.
- You have experience providing reproductive health care, adolescent health care, and/or transgender health care in Black, Indigenous, and other communities of color (preferred).
- You understand the importance of client confidentiality and can maintain HIPAA compliance.
- You are skilled in managing and meeting deadlines.
- You have knowledge of HIV/STI prevention theory, techniques, and practices, harm reduction, motivational interviewing, and youth-development principles and best practices.
- You are available to work variable hours per week with the potential to work expanded hours as clinic hours expand.
- You can lift and carry up to 25 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
- You are committed to advancing awareness of adolescent sexual health, anti-racism, reproductive justice, and understanding youth development principles.
- You have a valid driver's license, access to reliable transportation, and the ability to meet Annex Teen Clinic's driving record requirements. Please note that if the license was not issued in the state of Minnesota, you have 60 days after becoming a Minnesota resident in which to apply for your Minnesota driver's license or permit.
