Job Description:
Serve as the Regional Medical Director (RMD) for the Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) Administrative Region 1, which consists of Jefferson, Orleans, Plaquemines, and St. Bernard parishes. The RMD directs the execution of public health programs and all matters impacting the administrative operations of the Office of Public Health within Region 1.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise regional staff located in the Regional Office and state-operated public health delivery sites.
- Provide direction and oversight into the hiring, training, management, and disciplinary matters of regional staff.
- Prepare and monitor parish and regional budgets.
- Represent the Assistant Secretary of OPH at legislative hearings, local governing body meetings, and budget conferences.
- Direct the implementation and monitoring of OPH health services in Region 1.
- Supervise the medical/clinical aspects of all public health programs in Region 1.
- Provide education for the public and elected officials regarding public health issues.
- Perform other duties as directed by the OPH Assistant Secretary.
Minimum Requirements:
MD Licensure Required.
