The Accounting Manager is responsible for providing expertise in financial statement reporting, property management accounting, implementing best practices and policies, and reviewing and overseeing the staff accountants and associates work. This individual must possess a deep understanding of accounting principles and accurately maintain the general ledger for multiple companies simultaneously.

- Review the general ledger for multiple companies daily, making journal entries when appropriate.
- Review daily banking, including deposits, wires, and transfers.
- Monitor the process of ensuring the accuracy of vendor W-9s as received.
- Review reconciled bank accounts and credit card statements monthly.
- Review mortgage reconciliations.
- Review NNN billing and reconciliation processes.
- Ensure monthly TPT for all rental properties are paid timely and following SOP.
- Ensure new TPT licenses are acquired as needed.
- Review due to/from account reconciliations monthly.
- Monitor monthly management fee process.
- Process investor deposits and payments.
- Review and approve Financial Packets to external partners monthly.
- Review and approve gain or loss on sale calculations.
- Review assembly of month-end and year-end financial reports.
- Monitor and file timely the year-end 1099 process for all entities.
- Review tax submissions annually for several entities.
- Work closely with the controller to identify and continuously improve the accounting systems.
Marginal Duties-
- Audit property tax prorations if calculated on an estimated amount for sold properties.
- Backup and review weekly check runs, including urgent checks.

Supervisory responsibilities-
- Schedule bi-weekly one-on-ones with direct reports.
- Address concerns and provide coaching.
- Assist with goal setting and as needed, prepare written improvement plans.

Required Education, Experience, Licenses
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.
- Minimum of three years’ experience in commercial real estate or construction preferred.
- Minimum of five years’ experience in accounting required.
- Proficient with QuickBooks and Yardi preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word and Excel required.
- Experience with Mac iOS is a plus.
- Experience with managing, training and coaching distance workers required.
- Valid Driver’s License.
