Senior Research Associate, Structural Biology
W2 Contract-to-Hire
Salary Range: $93,600 - $104,000 per year
Location: Redwood City, CA - Onsite Role
Job Summary:
We are looking for a Senior Research Associate to join our Structural Biology (X-ray crystallography) team to support multiple oncology therapeutic programs, mainly by generating protein crystal structures. Working from the bench, you will apply expertise in protein purification, identification and optimization of crystallization conditions, and routine production and harvesting of co-crystals of protein and small molecules.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- MSc in biology, biochemistry, enzymology, or a related field with 2 years of experience; alternatively, BSc. with 4-5 years of experience.
- Experience with protein handling, characterization, and storage (FPLC or HPLC techniques like SEC and affinity chromatography. PAGE, quantitation via Bradford and nanodrop, etc.).
- Experience with protein-protein complexes, including antibodies/Fabs, molecular glues, and PROTACs.
- Able to follow written protocols and document research progress.
- Rigorous, quantitative, detail-oriented experimentalist
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Conscientious team player interested in a fast-paced biotech environment.
- Willingness to learn and improve processes
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with growing and harvesting protein crystals is highly desired. Prior use of crystallographic software suites (CCP4, Phenix) and visualization software (PyMOL, Chimera) is also preferred.
- Experience with biophysical characterization such as MS, Thermal Shift Analysis, and SPR is a plus.
- Experience with protein-ligand crystallization and refinement
- Experience in protein expression, including construct design and protein engineering.
