JOB SUMMARY
Works under specific direction to provide analysis and develop algorithms and software for clinical and/or basic research problems. Impacts data acquisition, management, and analysis in basic, translational, and clinical research, including clinical trials.

A Data Scientist I position is available in the Dr. Bradley Lega laboratory. Dr. Lega is an Associate Professor in the Department of Neurological Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He has secondary appointments in Neurology and Psychiatry. Dr. Lega's research focuses on how brain conditions affect memory. The research he began at the University of Pennsylvania, and that he continues at UT Southwestern, focuses on preserving memory function and restoring memory to patients with brain injuries or brain tumors.

This candidate will support study efforts studying intercranial Signal and data analysis for a new project. Prefer Master's degree or PhD in computational field. Candidate will need to be organized and have the ability to collaborate with trainees including undergraduate, graduate, medical students, as well as post-doctoral fellows and co-workers.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Required

  • Education
    Master's Degree M.S. in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, (Bio)mathematics, (Bio)statistics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related field or
    Bachelor's Degree B.S. with demonstrated experience in broadly defined areas of bioinformatics
  • Experience
    0 to 2 years post-graduation experience in data analysis and/or scientific software development

JOB DUTIES

  • Analyzes and develops formalisms, algorithms and software for applications in biomedical research.
  • Develops and maintains software tools and infrastructure for resolving specific problems.
  • Assists in the development, testing and revision of programs in a team with diverse bioinformatics expertise.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
