PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITY
Under the direction of IT Director, the Cybersecurity Network Engineer (Engineer) demonstrates a highly analytical mindset and a comprehensive understanding of cybersecurity methodologies. The position demands meticulous attention to detail, outstanding problem-solving skills, and has the ability to perform efficiently under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
The Engineer ensures safety and success by showcasing a profound understanding of security technologies, including Firewalls, Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS)/Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS), Web-Proxy, Secure Remote Access, audit logs, Antivirus/Anti-Malware software. This position conducts proactive vulnerability testing, risk analysis, and security assessments, providing recommendations to management to enhance the organization’s overall security posture. This position requires a comfort level with a variety of technologies, addressing security challenges, and troubleshooting network issues.
Regular, full-time attendance is required during normal working hours.
EDUCATION
- A Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, IT, systems engineering, or related field.
- Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Industry certifications in cybersecurity and network systems (i.e., CISSP, CEH, CISM, CompTIA Security+).
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 5 years of work experience with incident detection, response, and forensics.
- Extensive experience in configuring and managing Windows and Linux host-based security, as well as network and cloud-based security systems.
- Proficiency with Firewalls, Office 365 Security, Endpoint Security, Router Access Control Lists and web content filters.
- Experience in audit log collection, review, and analysis.
- Proven experience in patching Windows and Linux servers and managing Cisco network equipment.
- Strong background in supporting LANs, WANs, web servers, and both physical and virtual servers, in an enterprise environment.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
- Deep understanding of LAN/WAN components, network operation systems, internet firewall security, servers, PCs, network communication protocols, and networking hardware.
- Knowledge of server hardware, operating systems, virtualization tools (VMWare), and storage networking.
- Proficient in Active Directory administration and management, including Group Policy.
- Excellent communication skills to interface with users of all levels.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail, with a highly analytical mind and exceptional problem-solving skills.
- Up-to-date awareness of cybersecurity trends and hacking techniques.
