Position Summary
The Controller position will be remotely based. This exciting position offers an opportunity for a skilled, outgoing, collaborative and service-oriented individual to be part of the core growth team at Projeo. The Controller is responsible for developing the accounting department and providing financial information to assist management and shareholders in making informed decisions about the company's future. The Controller is responsible for all finance and accounting functions including invoicing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, internal controls, and preparation of financial statements. Key focus areas for the position include assurance of timely, accurate, and useful financial reporting and adherence to relevant governmental regulations and contractual terms such as Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200), Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR 31), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) and all other pertinent government contract terms. Job Duties and Responsibilities
• Hands-on accounting for the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports including, but not limited to, journal entry preparation, account reconciliations, internal and external monthly financial statements and forecasts, annual audits, and annual budgets.
• Responsible for disbursement activities, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, purchase orders, employee expense reports, cash controls, and subcontractor payments in accordance with legal contracts.
• Responsible for accounts receivable, ensuring the accurate and timely management of accounts receivable aging components including billings in accordance with customer contracts, cash receipts application, etc.
• Responsible for the timely and accurate processing of payroll and compliant withholding, remittance, and reporting of payroll liabilities.
• Establish and maintain systems and controls that verify the integrity of all systems, processes, and data, and enhance the company's value.
• Assess and implement efficiencies in systems (financial, PO, procurement, expense reports) to support company growth.
• Communicate with co-workers, management, clients, and others in a courteous and professional manner.
• Abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions.
• Acts as the primary liaison to the external auditors, coordinating audit activities, preparing information and schedules/workpapers and resolving questions.

• Maintain detailed, organized records of all financial activities and transactions including all compliance and reporting due dates.

• Federal Contracting - Experience with complex Federal Government contracts and knowledge of cost accounting principles of allowability, allocability, and reasonableness, along with the disclosures and characterization of direct and indirect costs, in compliance with the FAR (i.e., 31), Uniform Guidance (i.e., 2CFR200), and Government Cost Accounting Standards. Must demonstrate a clear understanding of indirect cost pool build up processes.
• GAAP and GAS - Expert-level knowledge of GAAP, GAS, and best practices in accounting, reporting, and internal controls.
• Technologically Adept - comfort, familiarity, and ability to learn and use a variety of computer applications, with a track record of leveraging systems to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of processes. Intermediate-level knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook. Expert-level knowledge of Microsoft Excel. Strong grasp of project accounting software, with a strong preference for knowledge and experience using Unanet to track direct costs, bid and proposal (B&P) costs, and internal research and development (IR&D) costs by project, task, and subtask.
• Financial Management - Drive management of Projeo's financial performance. Optimize accounting and reporting systems. Prepare financial statements (P&L, Cash Flow, Balance Sheet, etc.), reports, and analyses, including variance analyses, for management and project staff. Support project budgeting and assure controls are in place to track project budgets. Experience in auditing of processes, policies, and procedures to assure compliance. Experience and ability to support team for time reporting, payroll processing and reporting, contract administration support, tax compliance, etc.

Supervisory Responsibilities
The Controller is responsible for managing Projeo administrative staff including accounting, contract administration, procurement, and administrative support staff. The Controller carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Projeo's policies and procedures. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training administrative and finance employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Education and Experience
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance from an accredited 4-year University or College.
• MBA and/or CPA is preferred.
• Strong background in planning and performing audits, managing audits, and month-end close cycles.
• 5 years of progressive leadership in accounting/finance, including team recruitment, development, and retention.
• Expertise in all accounting cycles (payroll, disbursements, collections, financial reporting), budgeting, and analysis.
• Proficient in project/government accounting, with preferred experience in Unanet software and upstream/subsurface industry.
Physical Requirements
• Requires a valid driver's license.
• Work authorization for the United States.
• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Minimal travel will be required (<10%).
Position Grade, Compensation Range, and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $125,000 - $160,000 USD annually, with grade levels ranging from G17-G19, and a target performance incentive of 14-16% of annual salary. This salary range is Projeo's good faith estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, Projeo's business or organizational needs and an individual's relevant experience, education, qualifications, certifications, skills, seniority, geographic location, and/or performance. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the annual salary, grade levels, and bonus. The range listed is just one component of Projeo's total compensation package for employees.
