Aquatics Director

POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for the development, coordination, planning, administration, supervision and delivery of a high quality Aquatics program that is fully integrated into the YMCA's mission, and strategic and operating plans. Programming shall have a full range of aquatic options including but not limited to group swim lessons, fitness classes, adapted aquatics and competitive swim team.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Recreation or related field preferred.
2. Certification Requirements:
   • Immediately upon hire: Lifeguarding certification (ARC); American Red Cross First Aid & CPR for Professional Rescuer; AED, O2 and state-mandated concussion training.
   • Within 6 months of hire: YSL, LGI (ARC).
   • Within 1 year of hire: Become YSL Trainer & complete YMCA Aquatic Management (YAM) and POOL.
   • Within 2 years of hire: Become trainer level in another aquatics area (POOL, YAM, Water Fitness, AOA, Arthritis, Disabilities, Principles of Swimming and Diving, Swim Officials 1 & 2).
3. 1 or more years in a leadership role that includes supervision, program development, and fiscal management.
4. Highly effective communication (verbal and written), interpersonal and organizational skills.
5. Demonstrated skills in staff development and leadership.
6. Ability to work independently and flexibility to work irregular hours including evenings and weekends.
7. Demonstrated experience in budget and fiscal management.
8. Knowledge of current aquatic safety and program standards, latest trends in aquatics and the ability to articulate and incorporate them.
