Manufacturing Engineer, Senior (Req2298)
Job Description:
Develop, implement, and maintainmanufacturing processes for precision opto-electronic components employingstate-of-the-art microwave and fiber-optic technologies. Hands-on work in a lowvolume and high mix assembly and test environment. Support wafer back-endprocessing and chip-on-carrier assembly. Improve manufacturing processes usingLean Manufacturing techniques. Implement statistical process controls andperform analysis using software tools such as Minitab. Streamline processes andeliminate waste by utilizing value engineering, cost saving ideas and failure rootcause analysis. Collaborate with Product Development to launch new productsinto the manufacturing line. Draft changes to enhance product quality, improve yieldand manufacturability, eliminate variation, and reduce cost. Design andimplement assembly fixtures, jigs, and test setups used in production. Reviewthe ergonomics and safety of the production area and the material condition ofexisting fixtures. Lead moderately complex equipment installations andqualifications. Implement equipment PM schedules. Perform or coordinatecorrective maintenance efforts on equipment as required. Create productdocumentation inputs and updates using Microsoft Word and PowerPoint software.Use Agile system to submit Engineering Change Orders and new manufacturingprocedures and other documentation. Lead Kaizen teams and activities in supportof Lean Manufacturing efforts. Train production employees in manufacturingprocesses and the operation of equipment. Support AS9100 Quality System.Conducts risk assessments on equipment. Travel up to 5% of the time isrequired.
Job Requirements:
Requiresa Bachelor of Science in Electronics, Telecommunications, or a directly relatedfield plus three (3) years of technology manufacturing engineering experience.
Requirestwo (2) years of experience in at least four (4) of the skills listed below:

  • Minitab
  • PFMEA, PCP and OCAP
  • Design of Experiments (DOE)
  • Agile Systems
  • AS9100 Quality Systems
  • MIL-STDS, J standards and IPC 610

Alternatively, the employer accepts aMaster's degree in Electronics, Telecommunications, or a directly related fieldplus two (2) years of technology manufacturing engineering experience in lieuof a Bachelor's degree plus three (3) years of described experience. Travel upto 5% of the time is required.
