The Senior Director of Engineering, Ecommerce is a highly experienced and accomplished technology leader responsible for leading and managing a team of engineers to implement cutting-edge technology solutions at a rapid pace. The Sr. Director of Engineering will also be responsible for building a performant team by hiring, performance managing, coaching, and mentoring the team.
Primary Duties (Identified Essential Functions*)
- Team Management* - Lead and mentor a team of engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, coaching, and continuous improvement.
- Technical Oversight* – Provide technical guidance and decision-making across all Ecommerce engineering projects, including the progressive migration of a jQuery-based front-end to a modern composable architecture.
- Collaboration* - Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the technical solutions align with business objectives, customer needs, and other relevant stakeholder goals and standards.
- Process Improvement* - Drive the adoption of best practices in software development, particularly Agile methodologies, to ensure efficient and effective delivery of high-quality solutions and software releases.
- Innovation and Continuous Learning* - Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies, identifying opportunities to incorporate new tools and techniques that enhance both the team and the Ecommerce experience.
- Budget and Vendor Management* - Manage the technology budget and vendor relationships.
- Risk Management* - Work with team members to identify and mitigate risks and disruption associated with the Ecommerce platform, ensuring high performance, reliability, and security with minimal friction in the customer experience.
- Project Governance and Communication* - Ensure that all project stakeholders are kept informed, projects are completed on time and within budget, and that the highest quality standards are met.
- Performance Metrics* - Establish and monitor KPIs to assess the performance of the engineering teams and use data-driven insights to make informed decisions.
- Additional tasks and responsibilities assigned as necessary.

- Strong leadership and management skills
- Experience with agile development methodologies
- Experience with ecommerce platform management, Salesforce or headless commerce platforms preferred
- Strong understanding of modern Ecommerce stack architectures, engineering practices, and performance, reliability, and security in web and mobile-web development
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience with cloud computing platforms
- Experience with DevOps practices
- Experience with stakeholder management and project development methodologies
- Experience with budget management and technology vendor management
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on ecommerce
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline preferred
$183,000 - $250,000 a year
