Our client, a research nonprofit in DC, is seeking a temporary Benefits Manager to join their team for about three months.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the HR Business Partner team, payroll, and other HR functions to create efficient and accessible benefit processes for US staff.
- Evaluate current vendors and assist in the RFP process for potential new vendor selection.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for benefits-related inquiries for over 700 employees based in the US.
- Manage benefits and personnel action enrollments for new hires, terminations, and various requests such as changes in status and leaves of absence.
- Input and manage new employee data in all benefits systems, ensuring accurate maintenance and updates of personnel digital files and forms.
- Update the HRIS database (ADP) as necessary to reflect accurate staff enrollments and changes across all benefit plans (including medical, dental, life, AD&D, STD, LTD, HSA, FSA, Dependent Care, and pension).
- Generate reports from the database as required.
- Oversee Leave Administration, including Family Medical Leave (FMLA), Short Term Disability (STD), DC Paid Leave (DCPA), and maternity/paternity leave programs.
- Process invoices from benefits vendors, reconcile and audit monthly insurance bills and deduction reports, and resolve any billing issues, cancellations, or changes in coverage.
- Manage the Open Enrollment process.
- Assist the Benefits & Compensation Director with the benefits budget.
- Support the Global Director of Benefits and Compensation in developing a minimum benefits strategy for all operating countries.
Required Experience:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience.
- Must have 5+ years of benefits experience and 3 years of management experience
- In-depth knowledge of US benefits and related labor laws across multiple states.
- Proficient in HR information systems, Microsoft Office, and SharePoint; experience with Workday is preferred.
Position Details:
- Temporary for 3+ months
- Hybrid onsite in DC
- $35-$45/hour
- Potential to convert to a permanent employee.
