**Job Title:** RN Float Pool
**Job Specialty:** MedSurg/Tele
**Job Duration:** 13 weeks
**Shift:** 12-hour night shift, 3x12 nights
**Guaranteed Hours:** 36 hours per week
**Experience:** Minimum of one year preferred. Nursing skills and knowledge base specific to specialty.
**License:** State RN license or RN license from a participating state in the NLC
**Certifications:**
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification
**Must-Have:**
- ACLS Certification
- Patient care skills
- Experience with EPIC
**Job Description:**
- Assume responsibility and accountability for facilitating, communicating, and collaborating with the healthcare team and the patient/family.
- Promote the optimal health, well-being, and safety of the patient through the nursing process and in accordance with patient care standards, guidelines, and the State Nurse Practice Act.
- Demonstrate personal accountability for relationship-based care, organizational mission, and core values.
- Assess physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs through observation, interviews, and review of medical records and clinical data.
- Evaluate patient response and intervene to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Develop and implement patient care plans and observe outcomes in accordance with nursing standards and in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
- Demonstrate competency in various therapeutic/diagnostic interventions, including IVs, wound care, medication administration, catheterization, and specimen collection.
- Promote, advocate for, and collaborate to protect patient health and safety and rights.
- Provide education through assessment of patient/family learning readiness, needs, and ability.
- Recognize the patient or designee as a full partner in compassionate and coordinated care.
- Provide culturally respectful, relationship-based care that respects diversity.
- Delegate tasks to non-RN personnel per State Board of Nursing and hospital policy.
- Use time, personnel, equipment, and supplies efficiently to provide high-quality, cost-effective patient care.
- Model ethical, legal, and professional nursing processes.
- Manage resources and patient flow by matching nursing competencies with patient and unit needs.
- Guide practice using standards of care, hospital policies/procedures, and regulatory guidelines.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively within nursing and inter-professional teams.
- Precept or mentor new staff or nursing students as needed.
- Seek learning opportunities and continuing education.
- Maintain professional records demonstrating competency and lifelong learning.
- Evaluate personal integrity and nursing practice against professional standards and guidelines.
- Participate in unit-based quality improvement, evidence-based practice, and research activities.
- Expand clinical knowledge using current healthcare research findings.
**Note:** Floating may be required to any location within sixty miles of the original assignment location or an identified float zone. Float assignments may include duties outside original job requirements in accordance with policy.
