JOB SUMMARY
Coordinates processing of initial practitioner credentialing and processing of re-credentialing files. Coordinates the elements of the Continuing Medical Education activity and reporting cycle to assure Weiss Memorial Hospital’s status as an Illinois State Medical Society accredited provider of the American Medical Association Physician’s Recognition Award category 1 credit.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school preferred.
- At least three years experience in the Medical Staff Credentialing field.
- One year’s experience as a CME Coordinator/Specialist, preferred.
- Knowledge of accreditation requirements for Continuing Medical Education, preferred.
- Proficiency in computer referencing.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Working knowledge of Medical Staff bylaws, rules and regulations preferred.
JOB DUTIES
- Demonstrates the Resilience Healthcare Customer Service Values, which are key in providing quality service to patients and customers.
- Contributes to the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of continuing education activities.
- Interprets accreditation regulations and advises staff and planning committees in activity development and implementation.
- Coordinates the processing of practitioners’ applications for privileges, including verifications, data gathering and file maintenance for medical staff, allied health professionals and moonlighters applications.
- Assists in the reappointment process for physicians on an ongoing basis including provisional periods and regular reappointment intervals pursuant to JCAHO requirements and established schedules.
- Maintains credentialing files to comply with the Medical Staff Bylaws and JCAHO standards and implement new procedures as necessary.
- Assists in development procedure manuals, forms, and materials for development and implementation of CME activities and jointly sponsored activities.
- Oversees and enforces compliance with accreditation requirements of all CME activities.
- Develops and maintains minutes, ongoing planning logs and program files as required for documentation of credentialing process.
- Develops and compiles annual reports on overall CME program with analysis of accomplishments and outreach; initials recommendations for focus and direction of the overall CME program and its individual components.
- Completes application for continued accreditation and prepares onsite documentation to present CME program to accreditation review teams.
- Coordinates the planning and implementing of conferences:
- Serves as active member of planning committee to develop format, schedule, content, selection of speakers, and ensures that planning process meets requirements for AMA PRA Category 1 activities.
- Contacts and instructs speakers; coordinates and oversees all activity arrangements from planning to on-site implementation.
- Monitors activity budget.
- Provides administrative support to the Continuing Medical Education Committee, including activity cycle management and documentation, committee meeting documentation, and data gathering and reporting.
- Prepares confidential correspondence and special projects as requested. Assists in handling incoming phone calls, keeping files up to date. Opens and distributes mail. Prepares memos and mailings as requested.
- Maintains the medical staff office database. Updates records and inputs new information for physicians on a daily basis. Utilizes database to provide information to other managers and departments.
