Independently performs all responsibilities as a multi-skilled, multi-tasking individual in an empowered work team. Performs a variety of required tasks in the manufacture of inserts to support the production of contact lenses. Responsibilities include the operation and maintenance of CNC Equipment and metrology equipment according to established procedures.

Able to perform daily operation, preventative maintenance, and trouble shoot issues on all equipment and systems. Additionally, responsible for ensuring compliance to all safety and environmental policies and maintaining area waste rooms. Maintains current knowledge and adheres to provisions of FDA, OSHA, GMP, MPs, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, equipment specifications and process specifications. Vigilant for maintaining compliance with Environmental Health and Safety policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Senior Level Position fully qualified to run at least three platforms, and capable of machining all products for those platforms or;

  • Fully qualified in two platforms and acts as a Subject-Matter-Expert (SME) for a platform. The eligible platforms include Blanking, Sputtering, Precitech, Moore, and B-axis Lathing.

  • Responsible for operating equipment for the manufacture of inserts according to established specifications.

  • Cleans, maintains, and performs advanced equipment maintenance, conditioning, standardization, and calibration as needed.

  • Responsible for troubleshooting sophisticated machine issues as they arise in the department including start-up/shutdown from a compromised state.

  • Maintains and orders supplies and ensures calibration records are up to date for pertinent equipment.

  • Responsible for prompt communication of conditions that have potential to affect production.

  • Performs metrology as needed to ensure quality of produced parts.

  • Performs quality control checks on the work of other employees, verifying and interpreting parameters to ensure compliance.

  • Ensures all chemicals and hazardous and non-hazardous wastes are segregated and labeled per internal procedures and regulatory requirements. Performs regular inspections of waste areas.

  • Participates in projects focused on process development and/or improvement, cost controls and new product manufacturing and aids in the execution of validation/revalidation protocols.

  • Show leadership and give direction related to process for team members in absence of leadership.

  • Troubleshoots electrical, mechanical, or hydraulic systems, components, and equipment.

  • Able to perform all preventative maintenance procedures in qualified areas.

  • Applies nonstandard techniques where normal procedures do not fulfill needs.

  • Checks tools and test equipment for correct calibration and repairs according to standard operating procedures.

  • Makes recommendations to management on improving quality, efficiency, cost control, processes, or productivity techniques.

  • Implements and monitors manufacturing processes according to operational procedures.

  • Establishes priorities based on production schedule as directed by leadership.

  • Primarily responsible for machine set-ups for new jobs as availability allows.

  • For SMEs of Blanking or Sputtering their responsibility is to run the machines of their respective functions and/or to perform advanced troubleshooting and maintenance activities, as needed.

  • Supplies technical instruction and direction to operators including support of the development of training plans.

  • Educates less experienced employees on maintenance of equipment.

Education:

** Vocational, Certificate, Technical or Associates.**

Experience and Skills:

Required:

  • 6 plus years of experience in the machining trade or military training in a technical or mechanical field and/or equivalent experience within a CNC machining work environment. Consideration given for individuals enrolled in Vocational, Technical, Community Colleges or Apprentice machining programs

  • Able to use Microsoft Word and Excel.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Must have strong attention to detail.

  • Able to work a continuous operations schedule (days or nights).

  • Able to work M-F for Blanking or Sputtering platform.

  • Must be proficient with AutoCad and MasterCam.

  • Able to measure all features of precision machined parts.

  • Able to read and interpret technical blueprints to program and fabricate parts.

  • CNC programming (G & M code) experience and fabrication within a tight tolerance ( /- 2 micron) environment.

  • Ability to setup & program CNC machines (lathes, grinders, mill) to fabricate parts within /- 2-micron tolerances.

  • Familiarity or ability to measure components using Metrology equipment Zygo (interferometers, VeriFire, VWA) and Taylor-Hobson Talysurf.

Preferred:

  • Prior experience in the medical device or FDA-regulated industry.

Other:

  • This position requires up to ten percent (10%) of domestic travel.

The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporations performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Companys discretion on an individual basis.

  • Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays up to 13 days per calendar year of Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year
