Applicants for staff positions do not need to have a barrier to employment to be eligible for these roles.Peckham Inc. - Youth Services SpecialistPOSITION SUMMARYThe Peckham Youth Specialist serves youth referred by the 30th Judicial Circuit Court - Family Division. This position is responsible for working with court-involved youth and developing a vocational training plan for each youth based on their career interests and abilities. The Youth Specialist should be comfortable with teaching young people soft skills related to the world of work. The Youth Specialist will utilize strength-based approaches motivating students and use evidence based strategies for coaching new skills. The Youth Specialist also supervises and coaches students during their daily Work Based Learning experience at Peckham.MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:Supervise working students daily as they work at various jobs within Peckham.Hold students accountable for their behavior while using pro-social and controlled behavior management practices.Documentation including enrollment/eligibility, on-going treatment plans, transition plans, and other relevant documents are processed according to policies and procedures.Develop and maintain professional relationships with referral sources, community partners, and funding sources.Provide meaningful vocational exploration, assessments, and support to each student.Compliance with program performance measures.OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:Develop and supervise programming for court youth - DailyWrite detailed treatment plans, observation notes, and interim reports - DailyInstruct work readiness curriculum and manage classroom behaviorDevelop and conduct regular activities related to vocational training and transition planning for college or careersDevelop and facilitate ongoing groups related to CBT Skills.Maintain complete case records, program evaluations and follow-up systems in accordance with CARF and Peckham, Inc. standardsOversee the youth programs computerized report systemPrepare and perform orientation with new studentsCrisis intervention as needed.Maintain each student’s case file with regular case notes and updated treatment plans.Maintain safe and clean work environmentAssist in the training of people with disabilities as needed.Promote Peckham’s vision, value, culture, and commitment to excellent customer services to all team members, staff, customers and stakeholders.Maintain a safe and clean work environment.Other related duties as assigned.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESThis job has no supervisory responsibilities.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSBachelor’s Degree or 4 years of experience Or equal amount of years of experience and educationPassing and maintaining security background checksMaintain an unrestricted Michigan driver’s license and possess a clear driving recordComfortable facilitating curriculumsProficient computer skillsMinimal travelling using the company vehiclePREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSCognitive Behavioral Therapy Training a plusPHYSICAL DEMANDSThe physical demands of this position may be reasonably accommodated for individuals with disabilities on a case-by-case basis.PECKHAM IS AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYEREEO/AA Employer/Vet/Disabled.
