THE POSITION
Bring your dental assisting skills to the Department of Corrections! We are seeking energetic and enthusiastic Dental Assistants for the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Phoenix. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Dental Assistant, you will work with our experienced Dentists to provide basic dental services to our inmate population. Compassion and professionalism are of the utmost importance in this position, as you will provide direct care to inmate patients. Your dental responsibilities will include sterilizing tools, processing radiographs, taking impressions of teeth, and performing techniques such as suction and irrigation. In addition, you will perform administrative duties like scheduling appointments and maintaining dental records.

Work Schedule and Additional In formation:
  • Full-time employment (37.5 hours per week)
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $36,773.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • One year of experience in a dental office or clinic; or
  • Successful completion of an accredited Dental Assisting certificate program; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirements:
  • Successful completion of the Radiation Health and Safety (RHS) Exam as required by the Pennsylvania State Board of Dentistry.
Additional Requirements:
  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
