Waggoner Engineering, Inc. is hiring an Area Manager for our Atlanta, GA office to provide the vision, leadership, and management necessary to ensure business growth and effectiveness within their assigned geographic market area while ensuring the development, implementation, and coordination of projects, plans, and programs, and the formulation and regulatory compliance of related policies and procedures, subject to approval by the Vice President. The position accomplishes this through a respectful, constructive, and energetic collaborative and team-oriented style guided by the objectives of the company.

Your Primary Responsibilities will include
Core Responsibilities:
- Strong project management competency level with experience to support effective completion of all projects within their assigned geographic area.
- Bring an advanced level of business acumen in working with clients and interfacing with clientele on a regular basis, representing our brand with integrity and multidisciplinary expertise.
- Actively lead and drive the growth of business development opportunities for Waggoner Engineering.
- Identify, train, and develop leaders within the company and set them on the path for management.
- Maintain a working knowledge of all phases of operations within their assigned geographic area, coordinate to support operations throughout the business, and provide regular performance updates to the senior leadership team.
- Create and implement a strategic one-page plan to help track Waggoner and Trilon company KPIs.
- Work closely with Human Resources and the Senior Leadership team to define and implement operational strategy, structure, processes, and successful performance.
- Responsible for all project budgets, monitoring, and controlling costs.
- Support the Vice President with financial reporting responsibilities and performance monitoring to identify efficiency issues and propose solutions proactively.
- Guide, direct, and evaluate the work of all Project Managers within their assigned geographic area.
- Monitor cash flow of their assigned geographic area and work with Project Accountants and Project Managers to ensure timely payment from clients.
Essential Functions:
- Provide day-to-day leadership and management that mirrors the company's adopted mission and core values.
- Responsible for driving the Project Managers in their assigned geographic area to achieve and surpass sales, profitability, cash flow, and business goals and objectives.
- Responsible for the measurement and effectiveness of all processes, internal and external. Provides timely, accurate, and complete reports on the operating condition of the assigned geographic area.
- Spearhead the development, communication and implementation of effective business growth strategies and processes in their market area and the achievement of the growth metrics.
- Collaborate with the management team to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of systems, processes, and personnel designed to accommodate our organization's growth and profitability objectives.
- Motivate, mentor, and lead a high-performance team; assist with the recruitment and retention of staff; provide mentoring and training to project managers as a cornerstone to the career development program.
- Fosters an environment of teamwork and collaboration.
- Participates in regularly scheduled operations meetings with the Vice President to discuss operating performance, resource sharing and leveling, and process improvement.
- Participate in the business planning process of the company.
- Participate in other assignments and committees assigned by the Vice President from time to time.
- Act as lead client account manager and project manager for high-profile clients and large projects within their assigned geographic area.
- Foster a success-oriented, accountable environment.
- Represent the firm with clients and business partners.
What you'll need
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
- At least ten years of strong operating management experience in the consulting engineering environment.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Master’s degree in business or related field.
- At least five years in a senior management role.
- Certification as a professional engineer, professional geologist, or PhD in other related professional fields.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience in professional services business development and growth.
- Demonstrated experience in financial planning and analysis with previous experience overseeing projects and operating units.
- Skilled in organizational development, personnel management, budget and resource development, and strategic planning for projects and operating units.
- Excellent people skills and ability to partner with a dynamic leadership team.
- Possess personal integrity, credibility, and commitment to corporate mission.
- Flexible and able to multitask; can work within an ambiguous, fast-moving environment while driving toward clarity and solutions; demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities and guiding investment in people and systems.
