HEAD OF LENDING & CORPORATE FUNCTIONS TECHNOLOGY

WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

The Head of Lending & Corporate Functions Technology will lead the strategic planning, execution, and governance of technology projects within the banking organization. This role is responsible for overseeing a portfolio of complex projects that drive business transformation and enhance the bank's competitive position. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Project Management, deep knowledge of banking technology, and the ability to align project delivery with the organization's strategic goals.

What you will do

  1. Strategic Portfolio Management:
    • Develop and manage the technology project portfolio, ensuring alignment with the bank's strategic objectives and priorities.
    • Prioritize projects based on business impact, resource availability, and risk, ensuring optimal allocation of resources across the portfolio.
    • Establish and maintain a governance framework to monitor portfolio performance, manage risks, and ensure projects deliver expected business outcomes.
  2. Project / Program Delivery Leadership:
    • Lead the end-to-end delivery of major technology projects & programs, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and on budget.
    • Oversee project managers and delivery teams, providing direction, support, and mentorship to ensure successful project execution.
    • Implement and enforce project management best practices, methodologies, and tools across the organization to improve consistency and quality in project delivery.
  3. Stakeholder Engagement and Communication:
    • Collaborate with senior business leaders to understand their needs, define project objectives, and ensure alignment with strategic goals.
    • Act as the primary point of contact for all project-related communications, ensuring stakeholders are informed of project progress, risks, and issues.
    • Facilitate effective communication between project teams, business units, and senior leadership to ensure project alignment and resolve any conflicts or issues.
  4. Financial and Resource Management:
    • Develop and manage the budget for the project delivery and portfolio management function, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
    • Oversee the allocation and utilization of project resources, including personnel, technology, and financial resources, to maximize efficiency and project outcomes.
    • Monitor project financial performance, including tracking costs, identifying variances, and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  5. Risk Management and Compliance:
    • Identify, assess, and mitigate risks across the project portfolio, ensuring that projects are delivered with minimal disruption to business operations.
    • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal policies throughout the project lifecycle.
    • Implement risk management strategies and contingency plans to address potential project risks and challenges.
  6. Continuous Improvement and Innovation:
    • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance project delivery processes, tools, and methodologies, increasing efficiency and effectiveness.
    • Promote a culture of innovation within the project management function, encouraging the adoption of new technologies and practices to improve project outcomes.
    • Stay informed of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in project and portfolio management to keep the organization at the forefront of the banking technology landscape.
  7. Leadership and Team Development:
    • Build and lead a high-performing project delivery and portfolio management team, providing coaching, mentoring, and professional development opportunities.
    • Foster a collaborative, results-driven culture within the team, encouraging accountability, creativity, and continuous learning.

Must-Have*

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
  • At least 12 years of software development experience
  • At least 10 years of experience: Java, .NET, Python
  • At least 6 years of experience with Databases and Data Modeling/Design (SQL & NoSQL)

Skills and Knowledge

  • Preferably 4+ years of experience in JavaScript development frameworks and tooling: Angular, React, VueJS, & Gulp, Grunt, Yarn, etc.
  • Preferably 4+ years of experience in Big Data and Event streaming technologies: Spark, Kafka, etc.
  • Preferably 8+ years of experience managing software development projects through complete release cycles
  • Preferably 4+ years of experience leading software engineering teams
  • Preferably 2+ years of experience in Cloud technologies: Azure (big plus), AWS, OpenStack, etc.
  • Preferably 2+ years of experience with container and orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes, etc.
  • Preferably 2+ years of experience in build and CICD technologies: GitHub, BitBucket, Azure DevOps, Maven, Jenkins, Nexus or Sonar
  • Preferably 2+ years of Scaled Agile experience
  • Preferably 4+ years of experience in quality assurance technologies: ATDD, Selenium, Cucumber, JUnit, NUnit, SoapUI or Postman
  • Preferably 4+ years of experience in Unix Shell scripting
  • Preferably certified in .Net, Java, Spring or Cloud technologies
  • Exposure of Data management methodologies
  • Experience with serverless architectures and computing
  • Preferably 2+ UI/UX development & design systems: CSS, Web Components, Less, Sass

Compensation

Starting base salary: $141,830 - $263,408 per year. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. This job is eligible for bonus and/or commissions.
