ABOUT THE POSITION

The Director of Manufacturing Operations – Casework Division will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the manufacturing process, ensuring efficiency, quality, and safety. This leadership role involves strategic planning, process optimization, and team management to achieve production goals. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in casework manufacturing, excellent leadership skills, and a proven track record of driving operational excellence.

We are seeking an enthusiastic & motivated individual to lead our South Dakota facilities.

The successful candidate will be a strong leader, with a positive attitude who is self-motivated, flexible, and committed to working hard with the Creative Surfaces team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage an efficient daily production schedule, ensuring alignment with fluctuating customer site availability and evolving project priorities. Monitor and adjust schedules in real-time to accommodate any changes or unexpected issues, optimizing resource allocation and workflow to meet delivery deadlines and maintain high-quality standards. Collaborate closely with production teams, suppliers, and project managers to address any potential delays or conflicts, ensuring seamless integration of customer requirements into the production process.
  • Develop and implement manufacturing strategies to achieve production targets, quality standards and cost-effectiveness;
  • Lead and mentor a team of manufacturing professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement;
  • Manage an efficient daily production schedule, ensuring alignment with fluctuating customer site availability and evolving project priorities. Monitor and adjust schedules in real-time to accommodate any changes or unexpected issues, optimizing resource allocation and workflow to meet delivery deadlines and maintain high-quality standards. Collaborate closely with production teams, suppliers, and project managers to address any potential delays or conflicts, ensuring seamless integration of customer requirements into the production process.
  • Manage a dynamic production schedule, to meet everchanging customer site availability and priorities:
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including drafting, project management, quality control, and supply chain, to optimize processes, reduce lead times, and enhance product quality;
  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) and execute continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Six Sigma principles such as Kaizen, 5S, Fishbone, 8D and 5 why root cause analysis;
  • Manage inventory levels and coordinate with supply chain teams to ensure efficient material flow;
  • Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations and implement best practices to maintain a safe working environment;
  • Stay updated on industry trends and technological advancements to drive innovation in manufacturing.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • An entrepreneurial spirit with an attitude of ultimate accountability;
  • Exceptional leadership skills essential. Demonstrated hands-on approach with staff, strong coaching skills and a “factory floor presence” are required. Strong track record of leading and developing staff required. Strong change leadership skills a must;
  • Post-secondary education or relevant work experience in engineering, operations, business or related field required;
  • Experience as a Plant Manager, Director of Operations or Operations Manager role in a custom manufacturing/made-to-order product environment required;
  • Casework industry experience preferred;
  • Strategic procurement and sourcing, logistics and engineering experience strongly preferred;
  • Strong strategic and analytical skills required. Demonstrated record of success with strategy formulation, execution and results essential;
  • Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing required;
  • Excellent communication, training and presentation skills essential;
  • Strong project management skills/ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously required;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Google Workspace, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint);
  • Knowledgeable in AWI Standards.

WORK CONDITIONS

  • Work environment will be both in the office and on the shop floor, standing and walking up stairs will be required
  • Interacts with general labor employees
  • Communications with all shifts will be required
  • Manual dexterity required to operate computer and peripherals
  • Valid Drivers License required

COMPENSATION & PERKS

  • Annual Salary of $75,000 to $90,000 USD commensurate with experience
