SUMMARY
Under general direction, provides front desk and administrative support to the daily activities of the Clinic including filing, telephone coverage, appointment scheduling, registration, and greeting patients and their families by performing the following duties.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provides exemplary customer service: by introducing yourself and greeting and directs patients and visitors; treats patients, visitors and coworkers with courtesy and discretion.
  • Answers telephone, responds to inquiry, directs caller to appropriate personnel.
  • Prepares patient's chart upon patient arrival.
  • Schedules appointments and enters appointment date and time into computerized scheduler with a high rate of accuracy.
  • Registers patients by verifying that patient's record is up to date and accurate.
  • Makes appropriate changes in computer system.
  • Reminds patients of appointment and notifies patients of change in appointment date via telephone or letter.
  • Enters confidential personal health information and financial information into computerized system with a high rate of accuracy.
  • Complies with federal and local laws in ensuring patient privacy.
  • Collects payment from patients, applies payments and adjustments to patient accounts in the computer system, and reconciles daily cash reports.
  • Enters treatment authorizations into the computer system.
  • Organizes and prepares documents necessary for the following day's clinic.
  • Verifies eligibility of insurance coverage.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS AND SUCCESS INDICATORS
  • Ability to identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; and ability to determine when it is necessary to escalate issue to management.
  • Ability to gathers and analyzes information skillfully.
  • Ability to interact with physician, patient, and clinic staff in professional and courteous manner.
  • Demonstrated the ability to plan, and prioritize workload and job assignments.
  • Responsiveness to changes in work load prioritization and tasks as needed by the department.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School diploma or GED preferred
  • One to three (1-3) years of related experience.
  • Experience in healthcare environment preferred.
  • Possesses a basic understanding of medical terminology and procedures preferred.
  • Good listening skills and ability to devotes full attention to patients and medical professionals alike.
  • Strong communication skills both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to remain calm under stressful situation.
  • Bilingual preferred; proficient in Spanish desirable
