Friends For All believes in compensating our employees fairly and we look at both internal and external salary analysis. The range listed is an estimate as it looks at the total compensation package as well as factors such as skill sets, training, education and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range as this gives the employee a chance to grow into the role.

SUMMARY:
The Friends For All Outreach Specialist improves health outcomes in communities most heavily impacted by HIV/AIDS in the Memphis Area. This position works with vulnerable communities to develop materials, host community events, evaluate new ways to engage with individuals through online media such as podcasts, and in general provide HIV/STI education, testing services, linkage to treatment services, and other referrals to address the rising rates of HIV/STIs, and the stigma against persons living with HIV/STIs, LGBTQ+ communities, persons who inject drugs, and persons experiencing homelessness.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
  • Lead outreach to at-risk minority communities.
  • Engage new and existing partners in participating in community programs to provide HIV/STI education, testing services, linkage to prevention and treatment services, and other referrals to address the rising rates of HIV/STIs.
  • Engage new and existing partners in participating in community programs to address stigma against persons living with HIV/STIs, LGBTQ+ communities, persons who inject drugs, and persons experiencing homelessness.
  • Communicate effectively with community leaders and influencers to secure participation.
  • Work at public and private events
  • Assist with assembling and maintaining focus-groups to inform educational opportunities and programmatic and services engagement.
  • Support and enhance internal coordination among community outreach programs.
  • Create education materials and other outreach engagement opportunities
  • Host podcasts and community events
CTR
  • Oversee the proper provision of HIV/STI testing and counseling to outreach/prevention client.
  • Assures retention in care for newly diagnosed, out of care, and those at risk of leaving care through referrals to FFA Early Intervention Services (EIS).
  • Ensure grant goals and objectives are met for Counseling, Testing and Referral (CTR).
  • Oversee and make appropriate referrals to community resources for all persons supported.
  • Oversee and make appropriate referrals to Friends For All support services for all persons supported.
  • Track receipt of referrals for all persons supported.
  • Oversee and maintain timely, proper documentation of services in writing and in CAREWare/Evaluation Web and other databases as warranted.
  • Oversee and maintain accurate up-to-date records of all clients tested and meet Tennessee state reporting requirements for positive/reactive test results.
  • Oversee the provision of risk reduction and adherence counseling.
PrEP NAVIGATION
  • Oversee the provision of information about PrEP and PrEP services to meet grant requirements each month
  • Ensure the linkage of grant required number of clients to PrEP provider for prescription.
  • Once PrEP has been prescribed, continue to oversee and provide support for the individual for 180 days. This support will include:
    1. Follow-up discussions including any barriers client may face in continuing accessing and taking PrEP
    2. Support regarding selection of and scheduling with appropriate PrEP providers.
ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT
  • Attend weekly staffing/coaching session with direct supervisor.
  • Maintain all client related information under strict confidentiality.
  • Attend regular staff meetings and all mandatory meetings.
  • Answer incoming telephone calls on an as-needed basis.
  • Event planning and production on an as-needed basis.
  • Performs light clerical work.
  • Daily data entry.
  • Other duties as assigned.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Regular and predictable punctuality and attendance is required
  • Return all calls, emails and text in a timely manner.
  • Participate in weekly or biweekly coaching sessions with supervisor
  • Complete Performance Reviews and SMART GOALS
  • Participate in All Staff Meetings, In-Service Days and Mandatory Trainings
  • May need to travel in personal vehicle to meet staff, clients, or community partners at FFA locations or at other locations to meet the needs of the position

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred in fields related to public health, or social work or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience with social media and podcast platforms preferred.
  • Experience coordinating coalitions or working groups; experience with faith communities preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
  • Previous experience working with HIV/AIDS population preferred.
  • Good strategic/critical thinker, self-starter, goal-oriented
  • Excellent verbal and written communications.
  • Ability to operate with purpose, urgency and accuracy in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment -- with particular attention to detail and organization
  • Ability to work with a diverse client population
  • Strong relationship-builder both with team and clients (internal and external)
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Computer skills: ability to efficiently navigate the Internet and input data into applicable systems; familiarity with MS Office 365, especially Outlook and SharePoint, Adobe, TEAMS and Zoom
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Maintain confidential information and adhere to all Friends For All policies and procedures regarding sharing of financial information and Protected Health Information (PHI).
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
  • Must have a valid State Driver's License, provide proof of automobile insurance coverage to employer at all times and have an automobile to be used daily.
