Primary Accountability:

The Broadband Operations Director acts as the primary interface between the company and broadband customers. The Director will formulate and recommend policies, manage daily operations, plan the use of materials, manage personnel, purchase equipment and monitor budget. 


Major Duties:

  • Directs and maintains all phases of the Broadband Department and constantly strives to recommend needed improvements.
  • Provides excellent customer service to all consumers, vendors and the public in general.
  • Reviews position descriptions and specifications for the Broadband Department.
  • Interviews, hires, and terminates personnel for the Broadband Department subject to the CEO/ General Manager's review.
  • Recommends wage and salary adjustments to the CEO for the Broadband Department personnel in accordance with the Cooperative’s wage and salary plan.
  • Appraises the performance of the Broadband Department personnel and counsels the appraised employees in order to help the employees develop and improve, after receiving approval from the CEO.
  • Develops training programs for the Broadband Department personnel and determines if the Department is thoroughly trained in accordance with the qualifications and requirements of their position.
  • Develops and stimulates morale, as well as motivates team spirit throughout the Broadband Department by providing appropriate delegations, recognition of accomplishments, coaching and counseling.
  • Formulates and recommends operational policies for the Broadband Department.
  • Develops and recommends to the CEO the annual work plan and budget for the Broadband Department.
  • Participates in the CEO’s staff meeting in order to develop future plans, confer on mutual problems, interchange information and to share in the determination and formulation of management policies and internal procedures.
  • Develops procedures for the Broadband Department by consulting with immediate staff and other department heads.
  • Makes frequent field checks on work in progress to ensure adherence to established standards, practices and safety requirements.
  • Holds frequent meetings with the Broadband department to determine problems and needs which exist within the department.
  • Authorizes vacation schedules and overtime for the Broadband Department, as needed.
  • Participates in job training, safety programs and the annual Cooperative meeting, as required.
  • Provides weekly and monthly reports to the CEO on work accomplished by the Broadband Department.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by the CEO or CRO/COO.


Qualifications:

·        High School diploma or GED is required.

·      Minimum of five (5) years of experience in related communications field with progressively more responsible supervision and management positions.

·      Must have experience motivating people in a team effort, developing plans, programs, budgets, goals and standards to measure results.

·       Participation in pertinent institutes, workshops, and/or seminars which relate to modern industry practices is required.

·        Knowledge of the composition and proper form of correspondence and reports to utilize.

·        Ability to build and maintain positive public relations for the Cooperative.

·       Ability to attend night or weekend meetings and work nights and weekends as required on an intermittent basis.

·        Ability to demonstrate a personality which is pleasant, cooperative and mature.

·        Ability to train, supervise and counsel subordinates

·        Ability to develop and administer a budget.

·        Commercial Driver’s License

·       Ability to effectively communicate, present information and respond to questions, both in a written and verbal manner.

·       Ability to interpret and apply administrative policies, rules, regulations and procedures of the Cooperative to work processes.

·      Ability to maintain effective work relations with management, department heads, cooperative board, contractors, consultants, employees and the general public.


Physical Demands:

·        Ability to walk and stand to a significant degree.

·       Ability to stand, lift, carry, push, pull, balance, stoop, reach, handle, talk, hear, see, grasp, move head and neck and movement across mid-line.

·      Ability to lift up-to seventy-five (75) pounds with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to twenty-five (25) pounds.

·   Finger dexterity, manual dexterity, alertness, precision, form perception, motor coordination, auditory discrimination and tactile discrimination.


Work Environment:

  • Outside/outdoor environment includes extreme hot and cold temperatures, as well as wet and/or humid weather conditions.
  • Frequently stressful atmosphere with long or irregular hours.
