Cloud Solutions Architect

This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

Job Summary:

The Cloud Solutions Architect plays a pivotal role in guiding the agency through the complex process of migrating existing applications and infrastructure to a cloud-based platform. In collaboration with project managers, business analysts, stakeholders, and developers, this role researches, designs, implements, and manages cloud migration projects and oversees the planning, execution, and post-migration activities.
Supervision:
This position does not have direct reports.

Job Requirements:

Education & Experience
- Any combination that meets the knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA); typical ways KSAs are obtained may include but are not limited to: a relevant degree from an accredited college or university such as Bachelor’s Degree (e.g., B.A.), training, coursework, and work experience relevant to the assignment.
- Minimum of nine (9) years experience with AWS Infrastructure services (architecture / administration / operations)
- Minimum of eight (8) years of IT implementation experience
- Minimum five (5) years of cloud solutions experience, including architecting, developing, and deploying applications and platforms to the public cloud
Licenses & Certifications
Current certification in one of the following Public Cloud Architectures:
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect
- Google Certified Professional Cloud Architect
- Azure Solutions Architect
Knowledge/Understanding
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of cloud computing platforms and their service offerings
- Working knowledge of project management needs, to include integration, scope, time, cost, quality, resource, communications, and risk
- Knowledge of current industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to cloud migration and application modernization
- Understanding of networking and security
Skills
- Superb communications skills, to include verbal, written, and active listening with the ability to convey technical information in layman's terms
- Excellent interpersonal skills and demeanor
- Strong negotiation and persuasion skills
- Proficiency in the use of a PC in a Windows environment; in the use of the Internet; in the use of MS Office Applications such as Outlook, Word and Excel, PowerPoint; and in the use of Google Suite applications such as Gmail, Sheets, Docs, and Drive
- Expert level proficiency in cloud computing platforms and scripting languages, such as GCP, AWS, Azure, Terraform, DevOps, Git, Kubernetes
Abilities
- Ability to clear a comprehensive background and clearance process that includes an Arizona tax compliance verification, and a criminal background check through the FBI via level one fingerprint clearance through the Arizona Department of Public Safety
- Ability to design and develop application-to-cloud migration solutions and strategies with a high degree of expertise
- Ability to develop and write technical documentation such as project plans, proposals, and policies
- Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy, and also participate collaboratively to lead and champion cross-functional teams and drive successful cloud migration initiatives
- Ability to think creatively, critically, and strategically when analyzing and proposing cloud migration solutions
- Ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly
- Ability to present to teams and interact comfortably with individuals at all levels
- Ability to learn and apply LEAN concepts, principles, and tools
- Ability to understand and solve problems by applying advanced analytical skills

Additional Job Demands
- In the course of performing the essential duties one must be able to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
- No substantial exposure to adverse environmental conditions (such as in typical office or administrative work.)
