What This Role Is…

As a Senior Software Engineer , the primary function of this position is to design, develop, and maintain the CITY Furniture applications and software to support the needs of the organization. The Senior Software Engineer is also responsible for managing the interchange of data between server-side APIs, front-end systems, and end users. In addition, integration between backend server applications, and front-end technologies will also be necessary. Your contributions will ensure the success of the Information Technology Department at CITY Furniture.

What You’ll Do…

As a Senior Software Engineer your primary responsibilities will be to:

  • Analyze needs and requirements based on story cards. Write, edit, and maintain codes, while consistently following programming standards and best practices. Design and implement low-latency, high-available, high performant applications and code sets. Consider security and data protection at all times while writing code and developing applications. Writes reusable, testable, and efficient code. – 60%
  • Integration of user-facing elements with server-side logic. Integrates database and data storage solutions, including traditional on-premises SQL based databases, and cloud-based solutions such as RDS, Mongo DB, and Amazon S3 storage. – 20%
  • Analyzes the performance of current software and programs. Runs diagnostics and identifies problems. Designs solutions, re-writes codes, and repairs legacy codes for problematic programming to optimize performance. – 10%
  • Provides integration and user support with third party software. Configures third party software to operate optimally on CITY’s Furniture’s system. – 5%
  • Continuously self-educates in current, trending, and future programming and development methodologies and technologies. – 5%

Education & Work Experience:

  • Associates Degree, Bachelor’s Degree, or a student in progress of obtaining degree, required
  • 5+ years of project-based experience, required.

Work Environment & Schedule:

  • Remote
  • 40-hour work week, 8:30AM – 5:30PM, Monday – Friday

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged sitting

Technology Requirements:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs (i.e. Excel, Word, and Outlook, etc.)
  • Google Suite (i.e. Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc.)
  • HighJump software (WMS/YMS) and tools: Page Editor, Telnet, Advantage Architect, WebWise
  • Experience with Node.js / JavaScript; including Node.js frameworks.
  • Advanced SQL knowledge.
  • Software Development Lifecycle
  • AS400 / IBM iSeries mainframe experience / RPG programming language, preferred.

Certifications / Licenses:

  • Ability to use, track, and respond to all work assignments using JIRA based ticketing system.
  • Integration of multiple data sources and databases into single system / endpoint.
  • Implementing automated testing platforms and unit tests.
  • Understanding the nature of asynchronous programming.
  • Understanding and experience with Linux operating system.
  • Basic understanding of front-end technologies, such as Reactjs.
  • User authentication and authorization between multiple systems, servers, and environments.
  • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git.
