ABOUT THIS POSITION:

Purpose of this role:
To support the financial reporting and accounting functions of a growing portfolio of multifamily properties, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.

THE OPPORTUNITY:
As a Senior Accountant, you will work closely with the Assistant Controller and property management team to provide accurate and timely financial reporting. You will oversee the accounting for institutional-quality multifamily properties, reviewing disbursements, general ledger data, and preparing financial reconciliations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, collaborative, and organized, with a strong background in real estate accounting and GAAP knowledge.

As a Senior Accountant, you will:

  • Support the Assistant Controller and Property Management team in setting up and transitioning new properties
  • Review and oversee property-level payables, receivables, and fixed asset records
  • Assist in coaching and training junior team members
  • Compare financial results to budgets and prepare variance explanations
  • Reconcile cash, investment, and equity accounts, and manage capital for property renovations
  • Ensure timely completion of monthly, quarterly, and year-end closings in accordance with GAAP

YOU ARE/HAVE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting (CPA strongly preferred)
  • 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in real estate
  • Proficiency in Yardi and RealPage software is highly preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of GAAP and real estate accounting practices
  • Excellent time management and attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced, results-driven environment
  • Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office Suite
