This is a full-time position exempt from the requirement for paid overtime.
Basic Job Function
Administer the church finances.
Specific Responsibilities
Budgeting
· With input from staff and the finance committee, draft an annual budget, provide guidance to the pastors and finance committee, and finalize the budget.
· Ensure the children’s preschool, afterschool, and camp budgets are prepared before registration begins.
· Prepare monthly budget reports for staff and the finance committee.
· Alert staff of revenue/expense imbalances.
Pay Roll
· Supervise and/or prepare payroll. Prepare and submit required payroll reports including quarterly 941 reports and annual W-2 forms.
· Enroll qualified employees and manage payroll deductions for health insurance, pensions, etc.
· Obtain yearly cafeteria plan documents (pretax insurance premium pay roll deductions) and manage in compliance with IRS rules.
Accounting
· Prepare end of year 1099 forms and file with IRS.
· Post checking account income and reconcile account daily to maintain accuracy and look for fraudulent transactions.
· Post donations from Bluepay, Subsplash, Square, etc.
· Manage cash flow.
· Review all credit card transactions after entry by the Fiscal Assistant to ensure they are appropriate and correctly posted.
· Review all accounts payable before they are paid.
· Understand how to upload accounts payable files to bank positive pay system.
· Monitor employee cardholders credit limits as needed to control spending.
· Monitor commercial rental income and prepare/file monthly sales tax reports with the FL Department of Revenue.
· Work with the investment advisor to manage investments and reconcile the account monthly.
Contributions
· Supervise recording of contributions. Correctly document contributions including non-cash contributions to maintain deductibility.
· Weekly, report giving to the finance chair and pastors.
· Quarterly, send out contribution statements.
· Maintain records of pledges and analyze patterns of giving.
· Assist the stewardship committee with deferred giving: wills, bequests, and estate planning.
This position reports to the Senior Pastor and supervises the Fiscal Assistant. This position is associated with the finance committee, church council, staff parish relations committee, preschool program, and afterschool/summer camp program.
Qualifications
· Fully committed to the mission of Killearn Methodist Church and to a life of discipleship consistent with Scripture and the Global Methodist Church.
· 4-year degree in financial management, accounting, business, or equivalent experience.
· Understanding of generally-accepted accounting procedures.
· Experience in maintaining a double-entry general ledger accounting system.
· Ability to operate the church’s financial software.
· Knowledge of IRS tax issues relevant to churches.
· Non-profit experience preferred.
Compensation
The annual salary range for this position is $37,165 to $56,650. In addition, this position includes health insurance, holidays, vacation, and sick leave.
