Civil Engineer II

OVERVIEW

Merrick & Company is seeking a Civil Water/Wastewater Engineer with experience in design and construction oversight of water and wastewater infrastructure to join our Water Group in our Greenwood Village, Denver, Loveland, or Colorado Springs, CO office.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

1. Perform assignments in the analysis and design of water and wastewater systems.
2. Prepare and review working drawings, details, layouts, cost estimates, studies, reports and work products.
3. Provide construction support and oversight including administration and limited inspection, document review of designs by others for conformance of design standards and support to municipal water and sewer operations and maintenance.
4. Perform independent design tasks, review the designs of others, prepare bid documents including drawings and specifications, and organize all drawings, reports, calculations, and associated project deliverables, after receiving initial instructions from project manager, while receiving limited supervision.
5. Become knowledgeable of Merrick procedures, understand them and apply them when required.
6. Make sound engineering decisions, exercise initiative, judgment and knowledge commensurate with the responsibilities of the position.
7. Possess good interpersonal skills to effectively interface with clients and Local, State, and Federal government agencies, lead project progress meetings, make project presentations, and provide clear written communications.
8. Additional duties may involve project management for projects.
9. Some travel may be required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering from an A.B.E.T. Accredited School.
2. Four (4) years - eight (8) years of experience in the design and construction oversight of water and/or wastewater systems.
3. Must have a valid driver's license, a good driving record, and be insurable under Merrick's insurance carrier.
4. Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. Master's degree preferred.
2. A Colorado Water Distribution System Operator license and/or a Colorado Wastewater Collections System Operator license.
3. Experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
4. Experience with any of the following:
1. Water/Sanitary Sewer modeling
2. BioWin Modeling
3. GIS Systems and Programs
4. Water and wastewater systems
5. Public works design experience with local, State and Federal governments is a plus.
6. Local candidates preferred.
