Position Title: System Administrator - Ground Systems

Full-time: Exempt

Location: Greenbelt, MD


Technology Project Managers, Inc (TPM) is currently seeking a System Administrator. TPM provides engineering expertise that includes system definition, requirements development, integration, testing, commissioning, and maintenance, as well as project assessments, oversight, and recommendations for performance improvement.


Responsibilities:

The ideal candidate will:

  • Perform System Administration functions for Customer's Mission Operations Control Center
  • Sustain system operations, configuration management, and operating system patching
  • Application software installation and configuration
  • Perform system backups, troubleshoot, and resolve system, application, network and connectivity issues
  • Maintain system compliance with IT security policies and procedures
  • Linux system administration (Ubuntu/RHEL) knowledge including
  • Configuration management and system security: Ubuntu Linux
  • Windows system administration knowledge including Windows
  • Active Directory, Windows GPO, and WSUS
  • Deploy, configure, and manage VMWare vSphere server cluster
  • Manage iSCSI storage arrays
  • System and network configuration and troubleshooting
  • Manage web application servers (Apache, NGINX, Tomcat, etc.)
  • Manage and configure Internet protocols including TCP/IP,SSH, HTTP, and SSL
  • System network configuration, including network authorization (LDAP, SSSD Active Directory, PAM) on Windows and Linux systems
  • Management of versioning tools (SVN and Git)
  • Perform system backups and restoration as needed via VEEAM
  • Maintain software defined OS and application configurations through Ansible scripts
  • Investigate complex anomalies by working with hardware and software vendors, FOT co-workers, and Customer's engineers to determine corrective action and long-term solutions
  • Provide support in the generation of technical reports and presentation packages as required supporting the mission operation readiness effort for the Mission Operations Review (MOR) and
  • Flight Operations Readiness Review (FORR)
  • Create and manage virtual machines utilizing VMWare vSphere/ESXi


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Clearance: American Citizen or Green Card holder
  • Education:
  • BS Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
  • 8 + years of experience as a System Administrator managing a virtualized multi- OS environment
  • Proficient in the management and administration of the of the following systems and SA functions:
  • - RHEL / Ubuntu Linux, Windows, Scripting and Automation skills through Linux shell scripting,
  • PowerShell or other scripting languages
  • Experience with creating and modifying administration scripts on Linux (Bash, Python or Perl) and Windows (Powershell) o IT Automation through Ansible or equivalent
  • VMware vSphere
  • Server and storage hardware management and maintenance
  • Database configuration and maintenance
  • Firewall Rule Management
  • Experience with network setup, configuration, and troubleshooting


Highly desired qualifications:

  • Self-starter, with limited direction, research, learn and integrate/implement systems and solutions to meet mission requirements. Will require learning the unknown of the systems and applications
  • Information Technology security understanding
  • Good verbal and written communication skill set
  • Able to discuss technical knowledge/processes at both high and lower-level audience understanding
  • Proficient in the administration and maintenance of the following software supporting flight operations: MySQL/MariaDB clustering, SSL Certificate creation and installation, ASIST, FEDS, ITPS, MPS, GMSEC, AGS
