LHH is looking for a full-time Accounts Payable Specialist to join our client growing company in Seattle, WA. This position will be a 6-month contract that is fully onsite at the client location.
Key Responsibilities:
- Invoice Processing:
- Receive, review, and verify invoices for accuracy and appropriate approvals.
- Enter invoices into the accounting system and ensure timely payment to vendors.
- Match invoices to purchase orders and receipts when necessary.

- Payment Management:
- Prepare payment batches (checks, ACH, wire transfers) for processing.
- Ensure all payments are made within agreed-upon terms and in compliance with company policies.
- Manage payment schedules to avoid late fees and maintain positive vendor relationships.

- Vendor Relations:
- Communicate with vendors to resolve invoice discrepancies and payment issues.
- Maintain a positive relationship with vendors and respond to inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- Ensure that all vendor information is up-to-date in the accounting system (e.g., tax identification numbers, payment preferences).

- Expense Tracking:
- Assist with tracking and reconciling corporate credit card and employee expense reports.
- Verify that expenses comply with company policies before processing reimbursements.

- Reconciliation & Reporting:
- Reconcile accounts payable ledger to ensure all payments and liabilities are accounted for.
- Assist with month-end closing activities, including preparing accruals for unpaid invoices.
- Generate reports on accounts payable activities, such as aging reports or outstanding payables.

- Internal Controls & Compliance:
- Adhere to internal accounting controls and ensure the accuracy of financial transactions.
- Stay current on AP policies, procedures, and industry best practices to maintain compliance with company standards.
- Assist with audit requests by providing necessary documentation and explanations of accounts payable procedures.

- Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to improve accounts payable processes for greater efficiency and accuracy.
- Participate in system upgrades and implementation of new technologies to streamline the AP function.

- Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree or higher in accounting, finance, or related field preferred.

- Experience:
- 2+ years of experience in an accounts payable or similar accounting role.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and procedures.

- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle, or similar).
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact with vendors and internal stakeholders.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle, or similar).
