The Director of Quality is the primary leader responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities and leadership, coordination, and integration of services for WVU Medicine Hospitals. Responsibilities include directing the overall operation of departments and clinical areas such as Quality, Infection Control, Regulatory, Patient and Employee Safety, Risk Management, and Compliance and Privacy. The Director of Quality guides changes needed to reach departmental goals for each hospital and provides overall organizational leadership for performance improvement.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Developing and fostering effective collaboration between all departments and affiliated services to ensure a quality-focused approach.
  2. Serving as a resource to help reduce costs, enhance revenues, and achieve effective utilization and quality goals.
  3. Coordinating the determination of fiscal requirements of assigned departments and reviewing budgetary recommendations.
  4. Facilitating organizational compliance with the standards of all applicable regulating bodies.
  5. Fostering a culture of continuous improvement and coordinating the systematic implementation of effective practices designed to reduce error and improve patient outcomes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

  1. Bachelor's degree in nursing, business administration, finance, accounting, or other related field.

EXPERIENCE:

  1. Five (5) years' experience working with hospital operations with a focus on quality improvement.
  2. Three (3) years' experience in leadership.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

  1. Master's degree in business administration, finance, accounting, or other related field.
  2. Current licensure or temporary licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse.

EXPERIENCE:

  1. Ten (10) years' experience working with hospital operations including at least five (5) years' experience in Administrative Management.
  2. Experience in applying Lean Management approaches to process improvement.
