Smithbucklin is seeking an experienced Talent Development Executive to manage company-wide learning and development projects and programs. This position reports to the Talent Development Director and will collaborate within HR and across units. We are looking for an individual who will contribute to the evolution and growth of our programming and improve employee experience.

As an Executive in Talent Development, you will lead and support key learning and development initiatives, including:

  • Develop and lead a company-wide talent development and learning strategy to ensure Smithbucklin remains competitive and aligned with industry best practices.
  • Oversee and manage the design, selection, and implementation of all company talent development programs and initiatives.
  • Oversee the new hire orientation program and manage the executive onboarding program, including 360-degree feedback, to ensure a smooth and effective transition for new hires and executives.
  • Design and manage performance and employee engagement surveys to continuously improve employee satisfaction and performance.
  • Lead and manage company-wide competency models and performance management platforms and processes to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Create a framework for career maps and design promotion paths for key roles to support employee career growth and organizational succession planning.
  • Be the company expert on the MPP III psychometric assessment tool, educating others on its use to select the best-fit candidates and build cohesive, high-performing teams.
  • Nurture and sustain Smithbucklin’s employee value proposition via talent development initiatives in partnership with the corporate marketing team.
  • Deliver training and facilitate sessions to both small and large audiences, ensuring engaging and effective learning experiences.
  • Serve as a member of the HR Management Team, providing impact and support for overall HR strategies and functions.
  • Create and manage the talent development budget and forecast activities to ensure efficient and effective use of resources.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop direct report(s), fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.

In addition to these strategic responsibilities, you will also:

  • Oversee and facilitate our people manager effectiveness program (a DDI certified program), which is a blended learning series of online, virtual, and in-person sessions.
  • Lead manager basics and coaching series targeted to new and developing managers.
  • Develop and manage skill-focused learning courses and learning paths for targeted competencies that align with our strategic plan.
  • Create and lead leadership development programs tailored to senior managers and executives.
  • Collaborate with employee-led groups and committees to drive employee engagement and support.
  • Participate in other Talent Development projects as needed.

Your Professional Journey Looks Like This…

  • BA or BS degree or equivalent experience
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in learning and development and/or HR
  • Experience facilitating various types of learning courses
  • Modern experience designing learning courses or programs
  • Expert in leading onboarding initiatives and leadership development programs
  • Proven project management experience
  • Knowledge in creating and managing talent development budgets and mentoring team

Our hybrid environment offers you the option to work from home two days per week. Employees will work a standard 40-hour week, with the possibility of additional hours based on project deadlines. The salary for this role will be based on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and relevant experience. Additionally, successful candidates may qualify for a discretionary bonus up to and including 10% of base pay. The expected pay for this role is: $110,000-$140,000.
