Optical Insurance Specialist
We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join our growing team as Insurance Specialist with a focus on optometric services located at our Marshalltown or West Des Moines office . Candidates should be service-oriented, team players with high regard for confidentiality, and be able to provide extraordinary care, every day to our patients.
This candidate preferably has optical experience with knowledge of vision plans and optometric services/sales. They will be a liaison between our revenue department and providers.
Responsibilities include:

• Applying insurance carrier guidelines to submit accurate claims for proper reimbursement.
• Ensuring correct reimbursement for provided services.
• Utilizing insurance and billing expertise to resolve denials and patient concerns.
• Reviewing and processing record requests from insurance companies.
• Researching and correcting all errors resulting from data entry and sending out corrected claims
• Working with patients regarding balances & payments.
• Answering incoming phone calls and responding to patient calls & inquiries.
• Maintaining patient confidentiality and complying with all HIPAA rules and regulations
• Performing other related insurance and billing duties as assigned.
• Some travel may be involved.

Qualifications include:

• Experience in healthcare billing and reimbursement preferred, preferably in ophthalmology.
• Knowledge of the insurance payers and medical terminology. Vision plan experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of medical records and practice management computer systems
• Basic computer skills; Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, outlook, word, etc.)
• Customer Service Skills by phone and in person
• Knowledge of CPT/ ICD-9/ HCPC codes.
