We deliver innovative, community-driven solutions in response to Alaskas most challenging needs while supporting vulnerable individuals and communities statewide.JOB SUMMARY: Oversees inventory of weatherization materials, equipment and supplies purchased by the Weatherization Department Program. Maintains warehouse, coordinates vehicle maintenance and performs courier duties. Organizes and assigns work to other staff.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Prepares material order packages as assigned. Identifies best pricing, availability and location of materials, tools, etc. through informal bid process.Prepares documents necessary for ordering materials, equipment and supplies.Coordinates delivery of materials/ equipment and supplies to work sites.Inventories all materials, equipment and supplies received at the warehouse. Conducts periodic inventories. Oversees inventory tracking systems and procedures to assure an accurate accounting of tools and material is maintained. Conducts periodic spot-checks to assure accuracy.Ensures the enforcement of all warehouse procedures and practices so that warehouse is accessible and safe for employees and delivery personnel.Assists field staff, as required, in resolving logistical problems.Maintains overall responsibility for ensuring timely delivery of ordered and back-ordered materials and quick reconciliation of discrepancies relating to purchases.Maintains accurate records to provide continuous audit trail relating to the purchase and disposition of materials, equipment and supplies received by the department.Monitors tool inventory. Ensures that location and condition of all tools is current and accurate.Maintains maintenance records for program vehicles; schedule regular preventative maintenance. Ensures all program vehicles receive regular preventative maintenance and maintains all related records.Ensures that all invoices, packing slips and related documents are forwarded to appropriate Field Support staff.Maintains warehouse in a clean and orderly condition to promote efficiency in delivery of services and safety at all times.OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:Supports rural field operations; purchases materials / tools and mail / ship to rural project sites.Assists Supervisor with monthly and yearly closeout inventories.Assists with special projects and performs other job-related duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.Performs other duties as assigned.WORK ACTIVITIES:Researches, observes, receives, and otherwise obtains information from all relevant sources.Drives short distances to deliver items.Communicates by phone and computer with supervisor, crews and outside vendors.Lifts items from shelves and trucks.COMPETENCIES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:Ability to use work related tools and safety equipment.Ability to hear and understand verbal, as well as read and comprehend written equipment and safety instructions and established policies and procedures.Ability to communicate information and ideas effectively verbally and in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience so they will understand.Ability to operate vehicles or mechanized equipment, such as forklift and utility trucks.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors and co-workers.Ability to manage work time well, prioritize and meet deadlines.Ability to exercise good judgement, courtesy and tact.Ability to establish good rapport with people of diverse cultures and belief systems.Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.Must demonstrate sound judgment, professional boundaries, ethics, and ability to maintain confidentiality.WORK ENVIRONMENT/JOB CONDITIONS:Agency is a mandated tobacco, drug and alcohol-free workplace.Warehouse environment with exposure to dust, dirt and low light conditions.Must wear common protective and safety equipment such as safety shoes, glasses, back-belt, gloves and hard hat.May be required to work beyond regular scheduled hours during peak activity periods.Develops and maintains constructive and cooperative working relationships with others.Uses computers and computer programs effectively to enter data, create spreadsheets and process information, and, develop documents, and program and training materials.Develops specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish work.Communicates with others outside the organization, representing the organization to customers, the public, and other external sources in person, in writing, or by telephone or e-mail in keeping with current policies and procedures.Must have the ability to operate the following equipment: desktop computer, telephone, copier, PC printer, and fax machine.PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly to grasp, type, see, talk, hear, and lift and carry 50 pounds of weight by utilizing proper lifting techniques and working in a safe manner. This position will also be performing physical activities such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, bending, and handling materials.Occasionally performs sedentary activities that require sitting for long periods and repetitive use of hands, wrists and arms for handling, positioning, moving materials, and manipulating things.Must be in good general health and free from serious physical, mental health and/or substance abuse problems.The ability to use abdominal and lower back muscles to perform required manual labor repeatedly or continuously over time without giving out or fatiguing.POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK: This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. or hours vary with location. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. TRAVEL: Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected. EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS AND REQUIRED EDUCATION:Must be at least 18 years of age.State and federal background checks, including fingerprints, may be required.High School Diploma plus four (4) years experience in warehousing, receiving, inventory control, or materials management.Strong knowledge of Receiving, Warehouse, and Material Handling operations, methods, and practices.Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.Strong time management and organizational skills to maintain daily work flow and meet de
