Georgia Pacific's Consumer Operations is seeking qualified professionals to be considered for our Health & Safety Coordinator role at the Georgia-Pacific Pro Products Operation located in Muskogee, OK. The Muskogee Mill is an integrated Tissue and Towel manufacturing operation. The ideal candidate for this role will possess the ability to challenge the status quo to facilitate continuous improvement; collaborate across roles and diverse groups, gather, and share feedback; stay current in best practices and be a continuous learner. This role will provide key support in the development of Health and Safety activities across the department including continuous improvement on H&S improvement, reporting, KPI tracking and other processes. This role will interface with multiple Engineering Disciplines, Maintenance and Operations group to ensure that safety policy and procedure requirements are being met. This position will report directly to the Maintenance Leader. The shift for the position is Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:00 pm to include weekends, holidays and overtime as needed. The pay range for the position is $26.00 - $37.00 per hour.
Our Team
Located on the Kerr-McClellan Navigational Channel (Arkansas River) on about 640 acres of land, the Muskogee consumer products operation spans across approximately 70 acres (or 2,900,000 square feet) of manufacturing and warehouse space are "under roof" employing approximately 830 employees. We are the second largest employer in the Muskogee, OK area and 45th in the state! Our non-union facility operates on 12-hour shifts, 7 days per week, 365 days per year; housing 2 of the 13 largest tissue machines in the world and paper machines that produce an average of 900 tons of paper per day. Our finished product consists of a mix of 40% Retail and 60% Commercial.
What You Will Do
  • Coach and work with Maintenance department employees to increase employee risk recognition and mitigation, proactively gathering employee feedback on how to improve safety and reduce risks
  • Lead/participate in corporate, mill, and departmental safety assessments and root cause investigations, implementing plans to address findings, and collaborating with other safety coordinators to improve our mill's overall safety performance
  • Serve as a point of contact for all team members to understand the importance of focusing on daily activities that promote safety
  • Participate in the development and implementation of risk assessment methods/systems for anticipating, identifying, and evaluating hazards
  • Foster a safety culture that values risk identification and personal ownership through a principled based approach and validations
  • Develop and implement training processes consistent with the mill standards while supporting on-board personnel
  • Ensure Critical Hazards are being reviewed, play a key part in developing new equipment safety processes & assessments, and developing training to ensure safe operation
  • Participate in root cause investigations to aggressively pinpoint and mitigate risks
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • Two (2) or more years of experience working within a manufacturing, industrial, production and/or military environment
  • One (1) or more years of experience in a Safety & Health role in an industrial or manufacturing environment
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office products
What Will Put You Ahead
  • Bachelor's degree, or 2 or more years of experience in a safety position within a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in conducting incident investigations and help develop corrective and preventative actions
  • Experience in developing and maintaining an onsite chemical management program
  • Experience in monthly data collection for corporate reporting
  • Experience performing workforce training and development
  • Experience maintaining OSHA Compliance and recordkeeping
