The primary function of the Director of Educational Services is the management and administration of the District’s curriculum, instruction, and assessments to District students. In addition, the Director of Educational Services is responsible for the development and implementation of all staff development for district staff.
Essential Job Functions:
- Provide leadership and direction for Preschool-8th grade curriculum development and implementation.
- Oversee the development of Preschool-8th grade standards and benchmarks in all curricular areas which will include the alignment of standards.
- Direct, develop, and coordinate the continuous evolution of the District’s Local Control Accountability Plan and collaborate with all District staff to ensure District goals and programs remain in alignment.
- Direct, develop, and coordinate the professional development programs for district staff.
- Supervise the selection, acquisition, and distribution of instructional materials in alignment with standards and benchmarks and in compliance with state guidelines and funding.
- Ensure articulation between grade levels as well as between OUESD and the Liberty Union High School District.
- Utilize leadership at the site level to maintain focus on student learning and achievement as related to standards and benchmarks.
- Coordinate and supervise teacher support programs provided by teachers-on-special assignment, curricular coaches, and other related personnel.
- Develop and supervise the Beginning Teacher Support and Assessment (BTSA) program.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, local, and Board rules and regulations.
- Manage all state and federal categorical programs ensuring compliance with program quality and budget constraints.
- Coordinate and supervise the preparation and filing of state reports, audits, and other documents.
- Develop, coordinate, and implement district-wide technology plan in collaboration with Technology Director.
- Coordinate and supervise the District Teacher of the Year program.
- Serve as the District’s liaison at the County and State levels on curriculum and instruction issues.
- Develop communication strategies for grade level standards and benchmarks to be distributed to our District families at back-to-school presentations, parent conferences, and other opportunities.
- Manage and coordinate the District Library and instructional media services.
- Establish and maintain successful relationships and education partnerships with community organizations and resources.
- Supervise and coordinate additional programs and/or tasks assigned by the Superintendent.
Education and Experience:
Master’s degree, minimum five years teaching experience and a solid foundation in curriculum, instruction, and best teaching practices. Knowledge of, and facility with, district programs and technology. Foundational knowledge of the Common Core State Standards and technology integration. Experience with professional development, coaching, and facilitation and support of teachers. Experience with professional learning communities preferred. Prior satisfactory job performance or evaluation.
Licenses, Certifications:
Criminal justice fingerprint clearance, administrative services credential, and driver’s license.
