Job Requirements / Description

We are seeking a committed and passionate Expanded Learning Literacy Instructor to lead a gender-specific curriculum to girls in kindergarten through third grade as part of our East Bay Expanded Learning Programs. As a Literacy Instructor, you will work with afterschool site coordinators and school district personnel to deliver top-quality academic, enrichment, and recreational services to students during the after-school hours, five days a week throughout the school year.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Classroom experience a plus
  • Available Monday through Friday, 25 hours per week, afternoons until 6 pm
  • Ability to reliably commute to Richmond
  • Commitment to social justice and leadership
  • Passionate about learning and youth development: K-12
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment
  • Familiarity with teaching literacy concepts

Preferred:

  • Commitment to a full school year, able to practice open, clear, and consistent communication, commitment to participate in professional development

Responsibilities:

  • Support and maintain a safe and emotionally supportive environment
  • Create, plan, and execute lesson plans that support school day learning
  • Collaborate with youth to support their learning and development (youth-driven curriculum)
  • Model BACR Best Practices
