Description
Serves as a driving force for innovation in medical education, exemplifying excellence in administrative processes and contributing significantly to developing a contemporary medical school that prepares physicians for the challenges of the 21st century and beyond. Provides essential support to the Sr Associate Dean while offering leadership to the diverse array of programs that impact students throughout their educational journey, from recruitment and admissions to graduation and transition into their professional training and careers. Acts as a representative when necessary, facilitating the planning and organization of faculty, staff, and students to develop, implement, assess, and refine strategies aimed at fulfilling the mission of the College of Medicine (COM).
Job Duties
- Directs and evaluates educational operations within COM in collaboration with the Sr Assoc Dean for Education.
- Assists unit leaders in staffing strategies, including planning, recruitment, development, and retention in areas like admissions and curriculum.
- Ensures consistent application of policies and procedures, suggesting improvements to enhance educational operations.
- Advises faculty, staff, and students on initiatives and programs aligned with the college's mission.
- Directs and reports on education budgets, anticipating needs and identifying funding opportunities.
- Implements regular evaluations to assess the effectiveness of educational operations.
- Interprets and manages education-related data with relevant offices, preparing performance reports for programs and units.
- Supports accreditation and program evaluation efforts for COM.
- Plans and leads meetings for faculty and staff in collaboration with the Sr Assoc Dean for Education.
- Directs and oversees scheduling and logistics for the Sr Assoc Dean, including calendaring, messaging, and internal and external communications.
- Performs other job-related duties as required.
Qualifications
Education: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year Degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed.
Preferred: Masters Degree.
Experience: Requires a minimum of seven (7) years of directly job-related experience. Preferred: At least five years of leadership level experience in Medical Education is strongly preferred.
