UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital is looking for passionate Crisis Safety Specialist to join our team at resolve Crisis Services! resolve is a 24-hour, 365-day crisis service including a 24-hour hotline, mobile crisis team, walk in center and services for children’s and teens.For more information, visit: purpose of this position is to greet all customers, patients, and visitors. This position will conduct all safety searches on all patients and visitors who access the building. This position will also assist in managing the front desk as well as supporting the milieu as needed. This position will assist program leadership in development and implementation of safety management for the walk-in and residential environment.Responsibilities:Participate in interdisciplinary activities such as staff meetings and other committees as assignedReport any situation that may impact safety of patients, visitors and staff immediately.Provides customer service to patients, visitors and staffHandles disruptive visitors and patients by verbal communication and de-escalation techniques using physical intervention as a last resortDemonstrates knowledge of mental health lawsAnswer telephones, direct calls provides information when appropriate.Completion of reports and incident documentation as necessary.Participate in orientation for new crisis staffPerforms safety searches of all patients and visitors that enter the buildingMaintains a safe and secure environment through enforcement of UPMC policies, procedures, rules and regulations.Control evidence, valuables, lost/found as necessary.Respond appropriately to crisis situation as a team member.HS Diploma required.Bachelor's degree preferred2 years of experience in safety, crisis intervention, mental health, de-escalation or related field preferred.Ability to respond calmly and effectively, using good clinical judgment to both psychiatric and medical emergencies.Must be physically capable of providing direct total physical care to unpredictable, potentially violent mentally ill residents including lifting, supporting, running toward or away from areas where problems are occurring, and pushing or pulling equipment.Ability to defuse and handle distraught or hostile person(s) in a professional manner required.Good interpersonal skills; able to deal with stress and potentially dangerous conflict situations.Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.Ability to work under stress, with an unpredictable consumer flow, flexible schedule, and rotating shifts.Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:CCM training is required within 30 days of hire and annually thereafter· Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)· Comprehensive Crisis Management (CCMC)· Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal· Act 33 with renewal· Act 34 with renewal· Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal· OAPSAUPMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Disability/Veteran
