Our Opening and Your Responsibilities
As our Production Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the manufacturing operations at Mettler Toledo Thornton, with a primary focus on driving growth through the implementation of lean processes and fostering a quality culture. The ideal candidate will ensure that the right people are in the right roles to maximize efficiency, productivity, and employee satisfaction. You should also possess key characteristics including coaching ability, a proactive mindset, a deep care for company culture, strong decision-making and dynamic thinking skills, effective communication, and trustworthiness. Essential responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing the overall performance of our production areas to meet all requirements for safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Ensuring production schedule integrity and leading and developing a diverse team of operators, technicians, and leads to meet our growing customer demand.
  • Supporting and driving LEAN implementation within production and ensuring all current initiatives are adhered to, such as 5S, Takted Flow Lines, Hour by Hour boards, and Disturbance Tracking, and assisting in overall LEAN journey.
  • Leadership and Coaching- Leading, mentoring, and developing the production team to achieve operational excellence. Providing regular coaching and feedback to team members, promoting growth and development.
  • Lean Manufacturing- Implementing and sustaining lean manufacturing principles to eliminate waste and improve efficiency. Conducting regular Kaizen events and continuous improvement initiatives in line with our Lean Counsil and Head of Operations lean strategy. Utilizing value stream mapping to identify and eliminate non-value-added activities.
  • Quality Focused Culture- Developing and enforcing robust quality control systems to maintain high standards. Implementing quality assurance programs to minimize defects and ensure compliance with industry standards. Collaborating with the quality department to identify and resolve quality issues.
  • Production Schedule and Adherence to Performance- Collaborating with planning manager on production scheduling and ensuring on-time delivery of products. Anticipating and addressing potential production issues proactively. Optimizing capacity planning to meet current and future production demands.
  • Decision Making and Dynamic Thinking- Utilizing data analytics to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and driving continuous improvement. Preparing and presenting regular reports on production performance to senior management. Making informed, strategic decisions to optimize production processes and drive growth.
What You Need to Succeed
  • Degree in engineering, operations management, supply chain, business, or related field.
  • Lean certifications preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years total in manufacturing.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in manufacturing leadership.
  • Ability to work Monday-Friday with expectation to cover Saturdays as required.
  • Experience with SAP or other ERP system desired.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Quality Management.
