JOB SUMMARY Supervises and coordinates scheduling, requested time off, operations, training and performance evaluations of Central Sterile processing staff. Establish policies and standards for the processing, handling and distribution of sterile items; ensures rotation of sterile instruments and surgical instrument trays and related items. Monitoring of sterilization records and quality assurance; pertinent information to infection control when necessary
Central Sterile Supervisor orders items and equipment within the central sterile department as needed. Maintains PAR levels within the department and continuous monitoring of sterile supplies for sterile integrity and outdating within the central sterile department.
Communication with sales representatives according to scheduled surgical cases, canceled cases, and re-schedule surgical cases to ensure availability due to special instruments and/or implants needed.
Responsible along with materials management for repairs of equipment, monitoring, and control of all equipment including models and serial numbers. Warranty and non-warranty equipment. Records of repairs. Responsible for instruments and equipment for central sterile and special requests from physicians; scheduling in-service's with staff on use of new equipment for central sterile. Accurately records instruments/trays that were brought back contaminated; Able to troubleshoot issues arise within the department.
Liaison between Surgery and Materials Management (equipment, supplies, repairs, charges, pricing, and physicians requests); travel to other hospital facilities for emergency supplies and equipment on request.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS Certified Surgical Technician or Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician.
