Purpose
Responsible for the preparation of company sales tax returns, as well as the management of the sales tax exemption certificate reporting system for both vendors and customers. Provides technical tax assistance and support to tax, accounts payable, and purchasing departments.
Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and file monthly, quarterly and annual company sales tax returns
  • Manage the sales tax exemption certificate reporting system for vendors and customers
  • Maintain resale exemption certificates
  • Support and provide technical assistance to accounts payable and purchasing departments for sales tax reporting and compliance
  • Provide audit support for sales tax audits
  • Provide general support within the tax department for property tax, excise tax, gross receipts tax and other indirect taxes
  • Ensure tax compliance obligations are met
  • Other projects as needed

Required Qualifications
  • BS degree, with preferred focus of study in Tax or Accounting; or an equivalent amount of education, training, and/or experience
  • One (1) year or more experience performing accounting responsibilities
  • Proficiency in enterprise software and MS Office Suite including Excel preferred
  • Ability to draft professional correspondence using MS Word or similar software
  • Critical thinking and problem solving abilities
  • Excellent listening, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Self-starter with a high degree of individual initiative
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize and work with a great deal of speed and accuracy

Preferred Qualifications
  • One (1) year or more experience in tax reporting functions
  • Tax research experience
