The Scoop:
The Manager, Business Intelligence (BI) Reporting and Analytics provides immediate supervision and daily guidance to a team of BI Data Analysts. You and your staff are responsible for developing an in-depth understanding of the underlying data and proper business uses to translate end-user data and information requirements into a format to MedImpact teams in drawing insight from that data. This includes creating queries, visualizations, algorithms, and reports for use across the organization.

- Manages the day-to-day operations of assigned direct reports.
- Provides work direction, disseminates tasks and provides guidance and training to team members.
- Creates individual performance plans, measure progress with each employee, and recommends improvement and constructive feedback.
- Manages work group to achieve service commitments, including sustainable, measurable, accurate, reliable, and timely execution of all deliverables.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, and comfortable presenting to everyone from entry-level employees to senior vice presidents
- Actively participates as a member of cross functional workgroups, teams, and committees as assigned.
- Manages and maintains commitment to operational goals in the face of obstacles.
- Cultivates positive relationships with other MedImpact organizations through direct interaction and by achieving positive results.
- Promptly responds to service failures, resolves issues, and escalates concerns as appropriate.
- Ability to explain complicated or technical information in a simple way to non-technical audiences.
- Understanding of statistics and Knowledge of PL/SQL to write complex, highly optimized queries across large volumes of data.
- Understand data standards and identify data abnormalities. Instill data quality in all outputs that are delivered.
- Keeps current with industries best practices and seeks additional training/seminars to improve technical skills.
- Reviews and understands relevant State and Federal regulations and learns how they apply to MedImpact business.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Supports and enforces all company policies and procedures in a fair and consistent manner, taking corrective action whenever necessary.
Education and/or Experience
For consideration candidates will need:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from a reputed university in engineering, IT, economics, math, statistics, science, or other related fields in quantitative or analytical discipline (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
- Five (5) years’ related experience and three (3) years of supervisory experience
- Extensive experience with Medi-Cal/ Medicaid/ Medicare business processes and reporting guidelines.
- Relevant hands-on experience in a data science, business analytics, business intelligence or comparable data engineering role, including data warehousing, and business intelligence tools, techniques, and technology.
- Experience supervising/managing direct reports..
- Leadership experience may be substituted with four (4) years of MedImpact experience plus an appropriate external leadership training program and internal mentorship with a seasoned leader (Dir+) for current active employees.
Computer Skills
- Working Knowledge of standard business Applications, Microsoft Office Suite (MS Access, MS Visio, MS Project, MS Word, and MS PowerPoint)
- Working knowledge of approaches to data warehouse development • Working knowledge of relational database design, logical data modeling, data warehousing, and relational database management systems
- Promote the use of industry-standard frameworks regarding the use of ETL, data modeling (relational and dimensional), and reporting deliverables.
- Strong understanding of data architecture, data modeling, data warehousing, and data integration techniques and technologies
- Experience with cloud computing technologies like Snowflake, Amazon Redshift, etc.
- Define, design, and implement Business Intelligence (BI) strategies for operational, ad-hoc, and other BI-related solutions.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex issues.
Other Skills and Abilities
- Executes and delivers within the confines and timeframes provided by regulatory agencies.
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Good negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to work beyond standard business hours as required by deadlines and deliverables.
- Strong knowledge of the US healthcare system and healthcare claims data
- Ability to communicate positively, tactfully, and effectively with multiple stakeholders including team members, management, and customers.
- Experience and understanding of how to accomplish deliverables in a matrixed environment.
Travel
This position may require domestic travel up to 15%; attendance may be required at various local conferences and meetings.
