Location: On-site at our Chicago, IL office.
Shifts Available:
Job Purpose: The Data Center Technician (DCT) ensures all activities in the Data Center and Access Centers adhere to established procedures and industry best practices. The DCT will handle tasks as directed, which may be project-based or received via Service Now, ensuring all tasks follow Change Control rules and are properly documented.

- 3rd Shift: 10:30 PM - 6:30 AM Central Time
Job Purpose: The Data Center Technician (DCT) ensures all activities in the Data Center and Access Centers adhere to established procedures and industry best practices. The DCT will handle tasks as directed, which may be project-based or received via Service Now, ensuring all tasks follow Change Control rules and are properly documented.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the first line of escalation for serious incidents or technical issues.
- Execute Moves, Adds, and Changes (MACs) in the Data Center, MPOEs, MMRs, and access centers for both internal and external customers.
- Manage asset records, tracking and updating the status and location of assets.
- Perform daily checks to ensure security and access policies are followed and maintain Data Center cleanliness.
- Conduct quality assurance in Data Center Halls and access centers.
- Record details of all hardware deliveries.
- Control and report on Data Center stocks (e.g., copper/fiber patch cables, cleaning accessories, cable labels).
- 5+ years of experience as a Data Center Technician, including rack and stack, cabling, vendor escorting, and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with hardware manufacturer installation standards and copper/fiber cabling installations.
- Preferred qualifications include:
- Certified Data Center Technician (CDCT)
- HP Accredited Platform Specialist
- Systimax Copper Installation ND5541
- Systimax Installation & Maintenance ND3341
- Corning NPI Membership
- ITIL V3 Foundation Certificate
- BICSI Practices and Procedures
- Basic network knowledge and experience with Arista, Ciena, Juniper, and Dell hardware.
- Understanding of IP networks.
- Experience in an ITIL-controlled environment with knowledge of Change Control and Incident Management processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM databases.
- Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to communicate issues and results to co-workers and management.
- Ability to manage third-party contract staff/companies working within the Data Center.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills at all levels.
- Ability to work well in a team environment, whether in rotational assignments or project teams.
- Minimum: $65,000
- Maximum: $85,000
