Overview: This role is part of a team that's responsible for all network connectivity at multiple site locations within the Organization.


Duties include:

  • Helping to design, maintain & support LAN, WAN and WLAN networks for both voice & data applications
  • Monitors and administers the data network systems.
  • Communicates networking issues to other employees and management
  • Installs and configures network equipment to update or fix hardware or software issues
  • Implements, maintains, and monitors Information Security standards specific to the Network infrastructure.

Top Skills needed:

  • Palo Alto experience is required
  • Juniper experience is required; Mist AI or Marvis is highly preferred
  • Cisco experience is desired


Required Experience:

  • Associate's degree from an accredited institution
  • 2 years of Network Administrator experience
  • Palo Alto/Juniper/Cisco
  • Network Technical Documentation and Topology
  • Flexibility to work within multiple network environments with different topologies
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with city staff, management, and vendors
  • Microwave Radio Network, line of sight, wireless data infrastructure, and network troubleshooting experience
  • Running multiple projects simultaneously
  • Change Management Processes
  • Recommend and assist with network upgrades and patches
  • Windows Network OS
  • LAN, WAN, WLAN
  • VOIP
  • Network management analysis tools


Knowledge:

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft network operating systems;
  • Working knowledge of Linux operating systems;
  • Domain Name Services, DHCP;
  • Principles of systems analysis and design;
  • VOIP, switches, and router configuration, including MPLS, BGP, and VLAN;
  • Network monitoring and analysis tools, network management, firewall, IPS technologies, and VPN's.
  • Understanding of Web-based applications.
