Description of Position: Director of operations support and advisor to director and directorate senior leaders


Position Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Serves as Deputy Chief of Staff in the J6 Directorate
  • Supervises 2 - 4 NH-III personnel
  • Leads security manager, resource advisors and contracting representatives assigned to the J60 operations support staff
  • Establishes and oversees the civilian personnel manpower process in the directorate
  • Lead the directorate through the PPBE process and oversee the development and execution of the annual spend plan


Key Skills & Abilities:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of DoD Office of Personnel Management (OPM), Air Force, and Equal Opportunity regulations, practices, and procedures
  • Knowledge of mission, roles, functions, organizational structures, and operation of DoD, Joint Staff, and Combatant Command organizations.
  • Ability to quickly assess and provide strategic recommendations and/or direction for resolution of mission-critical problems, policies, and procedures
  • Ability to solve broad organizational issues, establish and/or implement strategic plans within and across organizational components and maintain a cooperative teamwork environment.
  • Ability to optimize, control, and manage all resources across projects/programs, develop and integrate innovative approaches to attain goals and maximize productivity.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing. Develop written reports for senior leaders (up to the 4-star general level) clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy.

  • Ability to provide command level staff guidance for all functions within the directorate including financial, budget, resource management, and human resources practices and principles.

  • Ability to resolve work-based conflicts between individuals and other organizations



Qualification Requirements:

  • Experience at the next lower broadband/grade level (or equivalent) in performing duties requiring knowledge of DoD and industry policies, principles, concepts, guidance, procedures, techniques, and methodologies pertaining to business operational support, budget/resource advisor, physical security, contract management, and project/program management. Providing direction, staff advice, and assistance to staff organizations and subordinate commands in the areas of education and training, community readiness, officer assignments, workforce development, and special programs. Knowledge of mission roles, functions, organizational structures and operation to provide command level staff guidance for all functions within the branch including financial, budget, resource management, and human resources practices and principles. Knowledge of safety, security, personnel management, and EEO regulations, practices, and procedures; planning, organizing, and directing the functions and supervise, mentor, motive, and appraise staff through subordinate supervisors.
  • Education Requirements: Master’s degree preferred
