Job Summary
The URA Captives Program Director will serve as the primary strategist and program director for group healthcare captives created and managed by URA. This individual must have a solid understanding of the employer group benefits business and the health insurance industry, including all types of funding arrangements, and poses the operational, reporting and regulatory knowledge necessary to create and manage group healthcare captives. Extensive experience working with TPA’s, PBM’s, reinsurance organizations and various healthcare point solution providers is a must.
Responsibilities
Strategic Planning and Growth
Identify and support formation of single employer captives and additional multiple employer captives in furtherance of URA’s growth objectives. Develop and execute an annual tactical and long-term strategic plan for all URA healthcare captives and URA Captive Practice including:
- Program innovation and cost containment initiatives
- Establishment and plan to meet annual goals around:
- growth (groups & employee lives)
- revenue
- loss ratio/claim performance
- Support pro-forma financial statement and budget creation
Leadership
Serve as the primary face of the captive programs, functioning as the liaison between the Subscriber Advisory Committees (SAC), employer group members and vendor partners. Identify and attend industry trade shows, conferences and employer/networking events to promote URA captive programs and learn about innovations in the industry.
Mentor and lead direct reports in daily activities of running the URA captive programs including program monitoring, vendor installation, compliance and reporting activities, and the service needs of both direct and brokered captive clients. Provide oversight of all aspects of the captive programs including, but not limited to:
- Reinsurance carrier, MGU, MGA selection and management
- Data analysis, new business quoting and renewal underwriting
- Recruitment of SAC members
- Vendor selection and the assurance of on-going performance monitoring
Broker Relations
Establish and support a culture that emphasizes selling URA captive programs through affiliate and wholesale/external brokers (where applicable). Partner with URA Partner Solutions team, URA platform leadership and captive program vendors to ensure sales and retention goals are met.
- Frequently engage with producers and service teams in promotion and education around URA captive programs. Collaborate with platform company leaders to establish annual growth plan and establish forecast to actual sales monitoring.
- Maintain & enhance existing Assurex/external broker relationships and develop new wholesale broker partnerships as part of the overall strategic plan for growth.
- Develop and provide “scorecard” monitoring for URA platform and wholesale brokers; determine and monitor criteria for wholesale program participation. Provide marketing lists, leads and materials to ensure success in selling.
- Proactively evaluate and monitor internal and external broker incentive and bonus programs to ensure alignment with captive health insurance market.
- Provide subject matter expertise on captive programs and goals around long-term cost containment and pooled risk.
- Ensure robust broker education and training program is in place
- Lead/support presentations with brokers and prospective clients
Sales & Marketing
Works efficiently and effectively with URA resources and vendor partners to develop a thorough and executable marketing plan for all group healthcare captives. Develop an effective sales enablement approach that can be leveraged by affiliate and non-affiliate broker partners.
- Ensures the development and maintenance of marketing opportunities and sales collateral through all communication channels including:
- Broker/Prospect facing handouts and materials
- Websites
- Presentations
- Webinars and other education opportunities
- Oversees and provides for continuous improvement of the new business quoting and proposal generation process
What You’ll Need:
- 10+ years experience with group healthcare captives, group health insurance sales/servicing. Health program, consortium, captive or MEWA development experience is a plus.
- Forward thinking and innovative
- Sales oriented with ability to think and communicate in high pressure situations
- Analytical, underwriting experience preferred
- Highly collaborative and adaptable
- Well organized and disciplined, ability to multi-task
- Emotionally intelligent and strong interpersonal skills
